Need a Proven Scoring Guard

Lucy covered our faults this year. Next year with Addie Deal she will need a proven reliable scoring partner. We nice pieces and hopeful expectations. Heiden looks like the real deal including scoring potential. Hannah is just a solid player but cant carry a scoring role with any consistency. Kylie and McCabe have their nights. But we need someone who can throw up 15-18 regularly and can get you 22-25 also.

Today Hawks started solid but then Sooners went on an 18-1 run. Besides Lucy ... no one could score. We even saw this with Caitlin when no one was that reliable scorer.

Its too early in the portal but Kailey Woolston could be a nice grab. Agree we need a PG but sometimes 1/2 can be interchangable. A sneaky player who could add senior leadership and scoring and bring the ball up ... Lexi Fleming Bowling Green, shes a Molly Davis type with more scoring potential.

The freshmen guards Stremlow and Levin could surprise us. Callie never got her shot but looks the part and was an Iowa Miss Basketball. Ive omitted Guyton because shes an major project / role player in my opinion. We pretty much saw her resume this year.

Preferably someone that can score AND handle PG responsibilities. We don't have a proven PG. I think we'll miss that aspect of Lucy as much as her scoring.

Wouldn't mind getting one of the 2 Wisconsin bigs in the portal either...they both are good rebounders. The one that was playing the 4 would probably be the best fit.

We have the NIL $$$ to fill those 2 spots in the women's game....hopefully.

Just need some quicker more athletic guards who can create their own shot and shots for our spot up shooters who can't.

As seen this season against the top teams Iowa struggles against teams with bigger 3,4 and 5s who are just as athletic as Iowa's players. This is not unlike the Iowa men's players same struggles.
Solution? Change in recruiting philosophy. Get the type of bigger faster player who can compete.
Our current women just can't compete on the same level as the top teams.

I think Ava with some maturing and some muscle will eventually be a load for other teams to handle. We're definitely sparse at the 4 though...size/athleticism wize.

Iowa was good the first 2 minutes of the game and then got hit in the mouth by Oklahoma and never recovered. The Oklahoma team out hustled Iowa and were the far more physical team. They kicked Iowa's asses.

Iowa needs to toughen up by next season. Sahara Williams and team kicked our ass. Congrats to Jenny!
