Could be what determines our tournament fate at year's end.
MSU
@Purdue
Nebraska
@MSU
Michigan

Tough start to the conference slate but 3 of them in Carver. I think we gotta won 3 out of 5 to build a resume deserving of a tourney berth. MSU is not the same team without Valentine, I don't care what anyone says. We gotta cash in and get a W against them in one of those two tilts. Purdue is a tough matchup especially in West Lafayette. I actually think we'll hang with them and have an opportunity to steal it in the end bit that would be a gravy win looking at that schedule. Gotta take care of Nebraska and Michigan at home.

It's time to beat Michigan State. We have 4 seniors starting and will never have a more experienced team. We beat them Tuesday night. I agree we need to get 3 of the first 5.

Agree that 3 wins out of five would be great, but we would still be in decent shape as long as we go 2-3 after 5 games

Seven of our first nine conference games are against the current upper echelon of the Big Ten, including two against MSU and two against Purdue. Then you toss in the fact that we have no Saturday home games. Once again, the Big Ten does us no favors when scheduling conference games. You would think perhaps occasionally they would cut us a break.

3 out of the first 5 / 4 out of first 8 and I can see a reasonable path to 11 B1G wins, 1 win in BTT and should be dancing.
2 out of the first 5 / 3 out of first 8 and I can see a reasonable path to 10 B1G wins, 1 win in BTT = on the fence, 2 wins in BTT = dancing.

IA hasn't had any bad OOC losses and will have strong SOS (currently third toughest in B1G per BPI and IA has a tough conference schedule).

A lot of ball yet to play but fun speculating.

Hawks don't need to win 3 out of the 5 to get in the tournament. The two road games are as close to unwinnable as it gets this year in the B1G. Valentine may/may not be back when Iowa plays @MSU, and Iowa hasn't won there in 25 years. Purdue, at their place, with their big guys and good perimeter defense, will be nearly so. Back half of the conference gets much better for wins.

You mean like last year when everybody was freaking out and determined we were out of the tournament and then the unthinkable happened!!!!!! They actually kept playing games and Iowa went on a nice little roll! It's a tough early stretch, but our season is far from over and not close for us to feel comfortable after 5 big ten games.....relax

Seniors might want to focus on winning these...creating a legacy of winning, rather than sustaining their piddling away ways...

Show time!

Yeah I'll definitely remember these teams for not closing games as opposed to returning my beloved Hawks to relevancy and winning an NCAA game. definitely no legacy of winning.

Oh I remember this milehigh below....selective memory for some in this thread but I've read this before from many of em.

I get it....Fran's team/program is still a work in progress but pretty darn good from where it was with Lick. It is BB (fine line between Ws and Ls) and Fran's taken on a risky schedule and this team has impressed me even in the Ls against difficult opponents, one very good opponent they were up by 20 and lose by ONE pt. in tMost difficult of true road venues.....doing something right..

I think this team could be 5-4 and with a little luck 6-3 after NW at home by 2/3 but need to win on Tuesday night....we'll see?
