What if next year we develope this starting 5:

F-Tyler Cook 6-9 240 Fr 5
F-Dom Uhl 6-9 220 Jr 25
G-Peter Jok 6-6 205 Sr 14
G-Isaiah Moss 6-6 200 Fr 4
G-Christian Williams 6-7 205 So 11

Then! Tyler Cook gets Jeremiah Tilmon to join him in Iowa City, the following year could be BIG

F-Dom Uhl 6-9 220 Sr 25
F-Tyler Cook 6-9 240 So 5
C-Jeremiah Tilmon 6-10 240 Fr 23
G-Isaiah Moss 6-6 200 So 4
G-Christian Williams 6-7 205 Jr 11

I like your optimism, but I don't see Moss starting next year. Him and Hutton will be the first off the bench the entire year, but I see the starting 5 (pending how Dale comes back) Williams, Jok, Uhl, Wagner, Cook. Wagner and Cook need to be the Basabe/White type of players and get easy buckets and Uhl needs to work on his shot, but with the surprising play of Williams last game and Wagner's progression this year, this could be a pretty good lineup. If Jones is back healthy, I project him starting over Wagner and having Moss, Wagner and Hutton first off the bench.

I'm sure the staff is taking the board's advice under advisement and we'll be seeing a change over the next couple of years.

Don't forget Andrew Fleming. I would place him ahead of Moss for early playing time next season.

Also, way way too early to write-off Ellingson.

I think Wagner will start ahead of Cook but like either a Wagner/Cook paired with shooters Uhl/Jones in the front court.

The biggest question mark might be who plays the shooting guard. That's the one position that appears to wide open. Someone is going to have to step up.

I do think Baer can and should come off the bench to replace Jok at the three, which would allow Jok to take some minutes at the shooting guard position.

I wish a top flight PG would find their way to Iowa City.

I'm warming up to a combo CW and Bohannon. Hopefully Bohannon becomes the dribbler/distributor Gesell became with upside of being a good shooter.

Unless you've heard something, I think it's a bit hard to know exactly where Moss is at. I feel like he may not have redshirted if he hadn't been late to join the team.

My just-for-fun two deep:
1: Williams/JoBo
2: This is difficult because I'm not sure whether or not Jok projects to a 2 in the pros, and if so, whether or not Fran will change him. Moss/Fleming/Ellingson
3: Jok/Baer/Hutton
4: Uhl/Jones
5: Wagner/Cook

Think there's a pretty solid chance that either Kriener/Pemsl redshirt, and my (complete) guess would be Kriener, just because he seems like a more raw player.

I really think the starting line up next year is going to be:

Williams
Jok
Moss
Jones
Cook

That would be a very athletic and fun group to watch. If we could get good bench production we could be a good team again next year.

I think we can write of Ellingson because it seems like Fran has. Both him and Fleming seem to be transfer candidates, but that's just my opinion. Either way, I think next year's lineup could be Iowa's most athletic in a LONG time.

G-Christian Williams 6-7 205 Jr 11

Moss is more like 6'4" /6'4.5". Secondly, Tilmon is a pipe dream. Grades are serious question. Likely a one and done player. Headed to a blue blood program. Malik Williams may be more sensible.

Tyler Cook knows a lot of St.Louis HS BB talent. Courtney Ramey(SO), EJ Liddell (FR), Carte' Are Gordon(SO), Jordan Goodwin(JR). Iowa needs to establish a pipeline to that region with Mizzou and ILL-ANNOY is a serious downturn. Go Hawks!

Wagner has to develop offensively to a tremendous degree or he just won't play that much with the low number of shooters coming back.

A very athletic group for sure but only 2 shooters, Jok & Jones.

Agree. Minnesota had a lot of young players, not a ton of shooters and lost a lot of reasonably close games.

At the same time what's not to be excited about with this next group? There's length and athleticism at all positions. My hope is better athletes will be able to play better defense over time as they get experience when the shots are not falling. That's one issue with the current group. Offense falters, lose confidence and the defense falls apart.

My expectation is inexperience and sloppiness will be seen in the first half of the season but I think it will fun to watch these guys develop. Look forward to the next journey.

I am a bit fuzzy on what positions Moss and Hutton played in high school. Were both 3's in high school? From what I saw of Hutton in the PTL, he is very athletic, has a decent frame, and can score in a number of ways.

Hell I would take a Bryce Cartwright clone right now. I realize he was limited offensively, but the guy could handle ball and get into the lane. I think he was our best PG in the Fran era so far.

I would put Bryce and Gesell a similar level. Neither was much of a outside scoring threat. I don't recall Cartwright getting his shot blocked so often. Mikey plays harder on defense.

Both played the 3 in high school, but I think Moss could play 1-3. Hutton I think could certainly guard 1-3 but doesn't have the offensive tools to play anything but the 3. As far as not having a lot of shooters I tend to disagree. Moss can flat out stroke it. I think he will play a lot next year and will be a great addition. Add that to Jok, Jones, Baer, and a January version of Dom and I think the future is very bright.

Cook is a great talent, but on video he looks more like 6'7", than 6'9". Also, Christian is probably 6'6" instead of 6'7".

I AGREEE WITHTHIS COMPETEY. No,playing time for them.
