That's to my liking as well. With potentially Jones & Cook rotating into the starting lineup for Uhl & Wagner by B1G season.
Yeah I could definitely see that happening as well.

I agree with 4 of these six players. I think Jones is still a bit iffy even though all reports are that he is successfully recovering from the knee injury. He might be better suited for a bench role even if healthy too.Williams
Jok
Uhl
Cook
Jones
Baer as sixth man energy guy
He has a pure 3PT shooter IMO and pure shooters will always have value in today's game.
Yeah, I think a lot of folks here are either forgetting about Moss or under rating what he will bring (I've seen several show 9 deep without he or Hutton mentioned).I just don't see a starting 5 that doesn't include Uhl. He was the first man off the bench this season and should be ready to take a leading role on this team next season. I think it ends up something like this:
1-Williams
2-Moss
3-Jok
4/5-Uhl/Wagner
Jones will be the first guy off the bench.
Uhl/Wagner/Jones/Cook/Baer should all get about equal minutes between the 3/4/5 spots.
Woodbury came in at 7-1 230 according to Rivals. He had the height, but Kriener is longer than Woody. As long as he isn't a huge liability, I don't see any reason why Kriener or, for that matter, Pemsl can't get spot minutes if we are in foul trouble or when guys need rest.If you're depending on Kriener being 'desperately needed from day 1', Fran is in trouble. Having seen both in person, Kriener doesn't look any bigger than Pemsl. Kriener's profile lists him at 6-9 240. Pemsl is listed at 6-8 235. Cook is listed at 6-8 240. It sounds like Cook is the best athlete of the bunch and will probably get the nod to play right away. Kriener would benefit greatly from a RS season.
Kriener could absolutely give spot minutes if an emergency situation. That is completely different than being desperately needed. It would more beneficial to Kriener and the team as a whole if he could RS instead of play spot minutes in a few games next season. I think Fran will have plenty of post guys to find minutes for next year.Woodbury came in at 7-1 230 according to Rivals. He had the height, but Kriener is longer than Woody. I'm not saying that Kriener is ready to make the jump from Class 2A basketball to D1 Big Ten basketball; my point is simply that his body doesn't necessarily prohibit he or Pemsl from potentially receiving minutes. We had a guy in Woodbury who, IMO, was less physically and athletically ready for Big Ten basketball starting as a freshman on a team which made the NIT Championship.
I wasn't really arguing the "desperately needed" portion of your comment. Simply just pointing out that I don't think his size would prohibit him from playing and that he would be capable of spot minutes in theory. That was what the majority of my response was directed towards. And I never compared Woodbury/Kriener's skill, just that they are physically pretty similar to support my claim that Kriener's body won't be what would hold him back from receiving minutes.Kriener could absolutely give spot minutes if an emergency situation. Don't forget that Woody went to a skills camp with the best big men in high school in attendance and he was Big Man MVP of the camp. He was also a top 50 recruit with multiple P5 offers. Iowa is Kriener's only P5 offer.
A pure 3 point shooter that shot 27%?He has a pure 3PT shooter IMO and pure shooters will always have value in today's game.
