Really punching hard on a hot button issue as we creep closer to the Iowa caucus. Not only does she say she will stop sales of US land to China, she'll seize Chinese owned land. I'm not sure either of those things is legal, by the way. I am old enough to remember when people in the US got all jingoistic over the Japanese buying US assets. Ownership of land is a pretty sacred thing in the US, as is people selling it to whoever they want for the most money they can get. Would this ban include all Chinese nationals in private transactions? Corporate buys? State funded buys?
The other thing I have seen in ads that is a little scary is a movement towards using the US military to hit drug cartels in Mexico. How's that going to work? Mexico is a sovereign nation, are we going to declare war? A Republican president will do they unilaterally? What happens when Mexican civilians are killed and not just people involve in the drug trade? What happens if a US operator refuses to drop on Mexico due to the murky legal status of the action?

The legal mechanics of this aside, is this really everything she's hanging her campaign hat on? Abortion, the economy, Trump's indictments. But she goes with China land buying rights?
I'll give her this much - this is one of the first times I've seen a GOP candidate actually try to stake out something to run on. So few of them have even tried to explain what they'd do differently and/or why they should be president instead of Trump.

Doubt this helps her gain much traction, but at least she's trying.

I’m a lib, and myself and many Libs abhor the idea of any foreign entity owning US land. Yet these so-called “Conservative” state lawmakers love sucking down that foreign cash.
Who sold Indiana’s tollway to foreigners? That’s another thing that came across as disgusting. I’m guessing Republicans did that. I could be wrong.

It woud be similar to the Pirate Wars .... or the fighting in the Palestinian Authority.

... or ISIS-AQ.

They strike at us; We strike at them! This would not be unprecedented. Lots of self-governed "nations or criminal organizations" exist around the World.

I watched Tim Scott upset because a guy in a diner wouldn’t have a dialogue with him. Then a few days later he has an ad that’s 90% untruths and BS. They stand for nothing. Biden said this 2 years ago and they keep proving him correct.

You can seize it but you have to pay just compensation for it. And I suspect if the Chinese bought it, that’s a lot of compensation.

Either way, a pathetic and cheap campaign tactic

I’m old enough to remember how that worked out for the Japanese. It’s not like they can take the land back to China.

I don't see her as trying. I see her trying to avoid the orange elephant in the room. Avoid the economy. Avoid healthcare, climate change, book banning, abortion, education, and everything else. She's staked out a meaningless promise that everybody knows will never be filled.

It’s a bipartisan concern….

Damn it bins. Don't let the HROT libsters know that. It'll break up their little partisan party in this thread.

Nice spelling crip. Also it’s our land if they own it no longer is ours. Shouldn’t be that tough to understand.

It was perfectly legal for them to buy it. And if it's still inside the US, it's US property. They would still have to meet any improvement, maintenance, tax, legal requirements regarding the land, along with any zoning requirements. So, if they are meeting all of those, how do you just take it? They would have to be compensated for it. We going to use US tax $$$ to buy back privately owned land?

This "policy" idea is stupid.

If the 380K acres number is true that's .0002 of the land in all the US. Not sure how to legally get that back. I can agree with disallowing further purchases.

Come on man you’re smarter than that foreign countries should not own our land. Anyone saying this is racist is lazy

Ignoring embassies, I'd bet there are 100 or more countries that own privately help land in the US. And I guarantee US government, corporations and private citizens own land in just as many other countries.

How are you going to address that?

Well, those are different than stealing the land back.

she'll seize Chinese owned land.
