If you really need enlightened......the "female" part of the comment should be self-evident. The "Hawkeye fan" part was explained by the reference to her clothing. I was trying to point out that the claim a Cyclone fan tripped RP was an assumption and there was evidence to support a contrary assumption. I'm sorry you were confused. I probably should have said something like, "it might have been a Hawkeye fan, considering the way she was dressed." Judging from her subsequent actions, it seems she might not have been a fan of either team.
This really is a fairly pointless discussion, anyway. It's clear from the video that whatever caused RP's fall, it was not the rush of fans onto the court to celebrate with the players. The statement by the Big XII office makes it clear that the ISU administration handled the situation properly.
Whether the fans should have rushed the court is a separate issue; I can certainly understand why they did it, but in general, I think it's a bad practice, if only because it gives losers something to bitch about.
I will add that the atmosphere was certainly not frightening nor intimidating. I was on the corner of the court after the game -- the quickest way out of the building from our seats is that way, and it leads past a relatively little-used restroom -- and none of the Iowa delegation seemed concerned about the crowd. I shook Herky's hand (claw? wing? talon?), in fact. He and the cheers were not worried about getting trampled and weren't even being jostled, and they were directly in front of the west student section.
