What are the board’s thoughts on this movie?

I saw it in the theater when it first came out and have seen it many times since. For me it’s one of those stop and watch a bit whenever it’s on films. I love everything about it - the acting, the cinematography, the dialogue, the lack of a soundtrack, etc

How about it, HBOT?

Great movie. High level acting going on

Great movie. Still don’t understand the scene where Jones goes back to the hotel room and it appears that Chigurgh is there and then not.
I think sheriff Bell had developed a healthy fear of Chigurgh and it was his imagination that we were seeing. That’s when he decided to retire. Fvck this.

In reality, Chigurgh had been long gone with the money and was looking to payback some receipts.

Read his novels. He’s a prophet.

I need to watch it again. I know the Cohen brothers want me to think a certain way about the final scene. But I don't pay very good attention. (And **** them if there isn't a specific way to think about the final scene)

That seems to be a pretty common theme in Coen Brothers films. “Raising Arizona”, “Burn After Reading”, “Fargo”. The list goes on.

Lots of characters who can’t seem to get out of their own way.
I saw “Blood Simple” at a small art house theatre before the Coen Brothers had become famous. With a box office of about $2m I was clearly one of the few who saw it at the theater. I remember being completely blown away. I also remember that while I usually find it lazy when filmmakers advance the plot by people making stupid decisions, there was something so natural and logical about each dumb decision that it wasn’t annoying, at all.

Love their movies.

Saw upon release. Liked it, don’t remember anything about the plot.
Drug deal out in the middle of nowhere goes bad. Hunter comes upon the remains. Decides to try and keep the drug money.
Then various interested parties want missing drug money. Some belonging to cartel. Some belonging to money men. The chase leaves a trail of bodies. Sheriff follows the hunter who is now on the run. Easy to follow by the trail of bodies.

I saw it in theater when it came out and fell asleep. However, I've seen it several times since and do enjoy it.
