I'm shocked with so many scholarships open next year that we haven't even landed one new recruit. Should we be worried??? I know we are still in on some top 100 recruits, but if history is any indication, I hope we have some better 3 star, under the radar, and "athletic" fall back recruits.

Please no more Oglesby type of players. They need more athletic guards coming in like Toussaint.

Shocked? We could fill them up tomorrow but 4 and 5 star guys don't usually commit this early. We could offer 5 D2 guys and fill them immediately.

I can only imagine the fan reaction if Fran didn’t recruit Rivals 150 instate kids with several big ten offers.

So, I just checked the rivals board (on this site) and 13 of the top 150 have committed (depending on how up to date that is).....from the 2020 class, that is just under 10%.

Of the 2020 top 100 prospects I believe it's banking on Foster. Beard is a 50/50.

I think we're a very longshot for Love, Garcia or Morton.

If we miss on Foster/Beard I think we're scrambling for the next tier. The guys like Nigel Pack.

Any guess on Desmond Polk?

Iowa has an in home in the next week with Love. He would be in the same tier as Morton and ahead of Beard and Pack for guard options.

correct me if I am wrong, but haven't almost all of our early commits been in-state kids or kids along the borders

I have no idea if we stand a chance with Beard...and I claim no expertise, but I love his video in terms of his athleticism, skills and intensity....looks to me like he would be right there (very comparable) with Love except for Love is a more polished/productive offensive player.....Beard a little more intense.

Probably our top 2 guys so far are from Texas out of our 9 commits. Duece Hogan our first commitment back last summer and TE Yelverton who we got less than 2 weeks ago with 30+ offers from a lot of top tier schools.

4 Iowa
2 Texas
2 Illinois
1 Wisconsin

You are on the basketball board.

Sean Bock at Hawkeye Insider basically said we stand very little chance with Love, Morton and Garcia and not to read too much into the at home visits.

I think the staff are doing their due diligence in pursuing heavily but don't hold your breath. It will be comparable Keion Brooks last year when we had the courtesy visit.

Our best chance at top 100 players remain Foster and Beard and Beard is a bit of a stretch unless his visits.

Another reason why getting the ND transfer would be a good get.

I agree. I believe there are 6 scholarships to fill next year, would make sense to knock a couple of those out right now. It's tough to fill 6 spots with high school seniors.

6? There will be 5 only if Fran doesn’t add a transfer this offseason.

Bohannon, Kriener and Moss will be the only seniors next season assuming Cook doesn’t come back.

Maishe and Cook’s scholarships still would be for next years class if they don’t add any players this offseason and who knows what will happen with Pemsl. If they bring in a transfer or two this offseason, then that would be Cook and Dailey’s scholarship. If not, it’s 5, possibly 6 open for next year.

It’s 5 at the most right now and that’s if Cook stays in and nobody else is added to the roster this offseason.

You could play the “What if” game with everyone on the roster so it’s stupid to include Pemsl in this number.

The point still stands, getting transfers now is a good move because it’s tough to fill 5 or 6 spots with high school seniors. I’d rather the coaches concentrate on getting 3-4 high school seniors and 1-2 transfer this offseason.

Oh I agree completely you want at least one sit out this offseason.

It would do wonders for class balance.
