A woman in Australia was driving on the freeway when she felt something on her foot. She looked down and saw a deadly tiger snake slithering up her leg. She somehow managed to stop the car and summon help without getting bit. Tiger snakes are the third most venomous snake in Australia and the fifth most venomous snake in the world.

Good for her.

I would have freaked the f out, grabbed the snake, and … be dead.

can you imagine her in bed?

I was in Australia this summer and the locals there think the US has much scarier animals. They acknowledge the poisonous snakes and such but to them, big animals like bears, wolves, panthers, mountain lions, etc. were all much more terrifying.
They forgot the fact that we have gators AND crocs AND pythons.
And skunks. Must not forget those.
I was walking late yesterday afternoon and caught wind of one that was out somewhere in the woods. 🤧

Snakes have to be the most disturbing of all animals. Not really sure why or how they are able to move about on land and water the way that they do. I would be ok living in a world without them.

I have to keep my garage door shut at all times unless I’m just walking to the mailbox and back. I’ve had a coral snake slither in while I was working in the yard and a Pygmy rattler curled up next to the door waiting to get in. Both went to snake heaven but I don’t want a repeat.

I’d like to visit Australia but even though I’m a Floridian the critters there scare me so much I’d probably fly in, get in a taxi and go to a hotel where I’d stay in a high floor room that’s been sprayed and thoroughly inspected and use a set of high power binoculars to check out the sights.
😰
Yep

Florida has all kinds of exotic and crazy wildlife and plant life, but it seems everything in Australia can kill you if you look at it sideways.

My dog caught a full blast in the face from a skunk. Don't believe all of those stories about the home remedies working to remove the stench.

Yup, I dated a chick no pics some years ago that had a german shepherd and one of his favorite things to do was run back in the pasture and start shit with whatever skunks he could find. He'd come back to the house just ****ing covered in it at least once a week.

I see skunks a lot while riding bike on a gravel bike trail in the dark.

They don’t seem to want to spray. They go out of the way not to. They “load up” their tail almost as a warning. I probsbly see two to three a month never had issue. I just make moves and stay about 20 feet away until they waddle off into grass.

I have even passed a couple when riding with my head down not paying attention.

Badgers freak me out. They looking very intimidating in the wild and from the stories I have heard they can get beyond nasty.

I'm sure my dog was not as polite as you.

Every snake is poisonous, venomous snake to me.

Here is something interesting.... Vast majority of snakes are nonvenomous. A smaller set are venomous. Common garter snake is actually poisonous (you eat it, you will get sick). Several species are actually poisonous AND venomous (about 17) May I introduce the Red Necked Keelback. They also try to flare their necks akin to a cobra. But they excrete white goo on their red neck area that they collect when eating toxic toads. Also orange, blue and black striped species. The biodiversity is so effing fascinating in snakes.

I don't doubt any of that, and I totally get the beneficial aspects of snakes. I'm just scared of snakes.

Most Floridians don’t mind a black racer since they’re territorial and chase venomous species. Garter snakes are harmless too. Just keep the rattlers and moccasins and coral snakes outta here.
