North Carolina re-elected an 81 year-old congresswoman…

You just think she’s hot.

My congressperson!! The Sea Hag!!

The Greatest Generation had 7 presidents.
The Silent Generation had 1 president.
The Boomers have had 4, soon to be 5 presidents.

The oldest Gen Xers are turning 61 this year. Yet have never had a president. Heck, Harris is the only person at the top of the ticket on election night and the only person to have served an elected Executive position that has been a Gen Xers. And she is only a Gen Xer by 11 months, one year older and she’d be a Boomer. Paul Ryan is the only other Gen Xer to have been on a ticket.

The oldest Millenials are turning 44 this year. Vance is the first Millenial to be on the ticket and will be the first to hold an executive elected office.

Going back to the first half of the 20th century, generations usually got between 2-4 presidents, first taking power in their 50s or very early 60s usually(which held true through the country’s entire history). The Greatest Generation took power early and didn’t give it up. The Boomers significantly squeezed out the Silent Generation and are also looking to not give up power.

What has caused this change?
1. Better healthcare has kept people alive longer. And not just alive, but healthy enough to maintain elected positions or at least healthy enough to vote.
2. Greed. The Boomers were called the “me generation” when they were younger because they focused on themselves and not the greater good. That seems to still significantly hold true.
3. Power and money hoarding. Older generations have pulled the ladder up behind them making it much harder for younger generations to get education, home ownership, comfortable living, etc.
4. Disenfranchisement. The power, and money, hoarding has led many Gen X and younger people to just not care because they can’t make a difference.
5. Extremism. Many of the young people running for office and winning are doing so because of far left or far right positions. Not because they are moderate and electable in a national race. AOC, Santos, Vance, Boebert, Omar, etc. Yes, Vance is the VP-elect, but that wasn’t because of him.

What else am I missing? How do we fix this?

Be honest. You used AI to write this!?

Change the Constitution then! Or better yet, quit voting for them!
We, the American voter are victims of our own malaise and design!
If they stopped winning elections then that would be best. They are voted back in by their age group - who are shrinking in number - which is inevitable.
Both parties have a similar issue here.

Hmmm. Boomers are the largest demographic ever produced and regardless of what your post says, we are the product of a post war baby boom.
It wasn’t our choice - it was WWII vets who had survived a rough Depression childhood and a horrific slog through a prolonged war as older teens or very young adults. They did return to a new world with job security and an old world holdover when big families were prized. My friends and I grew up in 4–5-6-7 sibling households. Three minimum. Only children were considered weirdos.
Many of us had parents who were determined to give us the things they never had, and that tends to instill a certain mindset. Sorry if some of you think we’re selfish eff ups. We’re your parents. Yep we are getting damn old. But we were told we had to step up and be responsible. Heck we even had leadership badges we could earn in Scouts. YOU on the other hand went to sports camps and played soccer, which took up our Saturdays.
It’s time you stepped up and demonstrated that you’re capable.
I’d say “we’ll wait” but it’s pretty far along in the fourth quarter for us, so get your butts in gear.
Otherwise those idiot millennials are going to slide in and (as per usual for that group) think they know a lot more than they actually do.

Gotta admit, Gen X getting squeezed out of any opportunity to have generational representative serve as POTUS is very "on brand".

Honestly, the greater concern is Gen Z.

Whatever anyone thinks of Boomers, Gen X, or Gen Y, all of those concerns are trivial in comparison to Gen Z. I have never seen a generation that talks so much and works so little. They think they have all the answers, but can barely hit the pause button on their video game in time to reach the toilet.

These are the people who think Abraham Lincoln was not woke enough, that birthing person should replace the arbitrary word “mother,” and that they should be paid $40/hour to work at Starbucks and be compensated royally for working more than 24 hours a week or attempting a couple years of college.

At least Boomers were willing to work for their “me me me” aspirations.

Neither are Boomers and yes they need to go home.
It doesn’t work that way in America however… we gave these things called elections and Americans get to pick their poison every couple of years…
Pogo said it best mom…”I found the enemy and it is us” or words similar.. and that over 50 years ago!
We all have parents but we can’t prevent us from hurting ourselves. Just another example of God and His sense of humor.

You guys were latchkey parents. You sucked as parents. Hell a lot of you suck at being grandparents, too. Your parents bent over backwards giving you everything, society bent over backwards giving you everything, and yet you still feel you're owed. It baffles me why you boomers don't realize that not everybody is here to serve you.

The Oldest Members of the House of Representatives

At 87 years old, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-Calif.) is the oldest member of the House of Representatives. Napolitano has served in Congress since 1999, spanning 24 years and three California districts where she’s represented.

The next oldest members of Congress age include:

It’s worth noting that despite concerns over Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s age, the former speaker of the House didn’t crack the top 5 oldest members of the House of Representatives. However, at 83 years old, Pelosi finds herself the sixth oldest member of Congress by age.

Chuck Grassley has Napolitano beat by 4 years. Did you vote for Chuck the last time he ran for re-election when he was a spry 89?

She fell down the stairs at the Capitol her first day back. What are we doing?

Off topic, but I love the hottish-looking woman furiously texting on her phone in the upper right of the photo, because that's what you're supposed to do in an emergency in modern-day America.

Also props to the cell-phone-photographer for capturing this image in the first place. Johnny on the spot, there.

It sounds like you had a sad childhood. My kids weren’t “latchkey” kids and the only thing my parents bent over backwards on was to give us a good education. I have never felt like I’m owed anything.
I have a great relationship with my grown children and I love my grandkids.
I’m sorry you’re so unhappy.
