Welp, this is a HUGE game. NDSU will not be afraid or have an awe factor in Kinnick Stadium. They are coming to Iowa City and probably expect to win.

They are 2-0 and beat Eastern Washington 50-44 in OT today. That Eastern Washington team beat Washington State last week.

This game makes me EXTREMELY nervous due to the fact we are coming off an awesome night win over ISU. How will the players react to an 11am kickoff against NDSU?

I know all the jokes aside about "typical", "good week of practice", etc...

This one really concerns me. It's like who the heck scheduled it? Iowa needs to put this team away early or else it could get very interesting. They've beat the likes of Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota in past seasons. So we'll see how it goes, but I don't like this game at all!

Guys, NDSU is wayyyy down this year. They've eeked out a couple of wins against FCS teams they used to pound on.

Iowa is going to put the hurt on them. They'll put up more of a fight than ISU so I'll say 42-13.

If we lose to an FCS team that lost their QB from last year to the NFL (#2 overall pick in draft, starting for Eagles tomorrow), we're in bad shape. As good as NDSU's program is, I don't see them doing that kind of quick rebuild, at least not one that puts them in position to beat a solid P5 team.

NDSU game is going to be a battle. I think if Iowa doesn't give them confidence and takes care of the football, they should be fine. The problem with games like this is when the home team shoots themselves in the foot and leaves the door wide open.

It won't be easy and I think they'll be very fundamentally sound as well and challenge for 3 quarters before we wear them down. I could see it being a 34-17 type game but thinking they'll win is asking a lot.

Control the ball. Push them around in the trenches. Don't give up big plays. Gratuitously use fullbacks and double tight sets. Mix in some screen passes on third and long. Take a shot downfield three or four times. Use a 4-3 cover 2 defense.

An Iowa football game.

I really liked the 3-WR sets today. At times, it was impossible for Iowa State to align in a way that they had a chance to defend.

Their starter this year started 8 games for them last year when the one who got drafted was hurt.

NDSU is definitely an FBS-caliber team and could beat the bottom feeders from all of the Power 5 conferences as they proved in the past 5 years. The problem for them this year is that they're going to be taking on a top 15 team whereas the FBS teams from the past five years were mediocre to terrible. I think this will be the toughest game out of the first three for Iowa, but I still expect Iowa to win by three TDs (or more). Starters might have to play the whole game against them, though.

Agreed.

Iowa should win, but I think NDSU will be our toughest opponent so far.

I am expecting similar results. It may be a blessing as the Hawks will get slightly tested by a team that will do some of the same things Wisconsin will do. Get some film and clean up some mistakes.

Aside from gaining some confidence, the game against ISU was worthless as a development type situation.

Don't really like these games Against teams like NDSU.. Lose - Lose situation Iowa really has nothing to gain here.. I hope this game is not close and iowa dominates

Umm no on the ISU game. Tell that to Legrand or Scheel or the 2nd team who got reps. Even Jewell who needed reps. Every game has development value. Unless that's not what you meant.

Every game makes you EXTREMELY nervous!

Every game makes me extremely nervous. Desmond King returning punts late in the game. CJ almost got killed late in the game. I was nervous in the 4th quarter yesterday.

I love what Desmond brings to the return game, like you it still scares the hell out of me.

This is a great example where the guys have to remain focussed and respect their opponent. If they go in and approach things right ... work hard and have a good week in practice ... I think that North Dakota State will have their hands full.

Regardless of how things have played out - North Dakota State is likely the toughest team we face in the early portion of our schedule. We we treat them as such ... then our focus and preparation will continue to lead to execution at a high level. When we're doing that ... the Hawks are awfully difficult to defeat.

There is no doubt this should be a very competitive game and the toughest test to date. I see a team (Hawks) that appears to still have the focus they have had since the start of last season. While I do not see this as a "walk in the park" so to speak, I guess I am a little more optimistic. Really no disrespect to the OP. It seems every game Iowa plays leaves the OP with some sort of concern. Maybe I should look at it this way, I don't know. Regardless of the outcome, this will be a good game! As much as I am satisfied of the outcome last night, I would have liked to have seen more competiveness with the clowns. This next game should be all that!
