Also, anybody know why their coach got fired?
I'm not to sure but if I had to guess I'd say it was personal tension between drew and the ad he's not one to hold his tongue and he was also doing very well for them as far as producing and recruiting

Yeah. Ugly situation. Drew Parino is a great coach. I know there is currently a big push to get him in at Cleveland State University. A division I program that almost got the ax last year, but was saved by the wrestling fans of NE Ohio with the help of one Dan Gable.

Drew Parino is from the West Side of Cleveland.

A perfect fit for him would be at Michigan State, he could do big things at Michigan State. MSU is too dumb to hire him though.

As for the duals, NW had terrible luck with several big recruit recently and it is showing. Schmitt should be their starter and instead is a team manger because of injury. Micic should be their stud 125, but we all know that story. Sullivan, was another tough situation for a wrestler on the verge of big things. Then Sabastian and Tsirtsis sitting out and Chakonis on the sideline causes results like this. Northwestern is better than this.

I will be very interested to see who gets the Head Coach job next year...Mark Perry?

Perry is going to wait until IMar is done at Illinois I suspect and then make a leap unless something big opens up.

i'm sure nothing is fun for the young man right now. hope he comes through it I kind of see him as extended hawk family.

I heard there was a clash between Pariano and admin over a specific wrestler. Even though I heard this from a reliable source, I don't want to go into further detail because I haven't seen what I heard anywhere else. As for Tsirtsis, I haven't heard what's going on, other than his family stuff. I'm sure suddenly losing his coach doesn't help. I did hear (from a different reliable source), that kind of like Stroker, we didn't really recruit him. If true, that surprises me.

There aren't too many "big" wrestling jobs. NW is big. If he can get that job he should take it.

Laux?

I believe this could be possible with a Retherford #1 seed, Sorenson #4/5 seed, Tsirtsis #8/9 seed scenario...;)
Depending on when he starts wrestling again or better yet wrestling like himself again Tsirtsis could end up with a worse seed than that. Think about the Brewers and Delgados of last season.

Hawks recruited Fredy

Shhhh.
Popular narrative on this board is if the Hawks didn't get em then either they didn't recruit em or didn't go after em very hard. I have read that about several kids that went elsewhere.
But Papabear, I am not one of those guys that do that. In this case I believe it to be true. One buddy I still has lots of connections to Bettendorf wrestling and another is well connected with an Iowa coach, and I heard the same thing from both. The guy from Bettendorf told me that before he committed to Minnesota. These guys do not have an agenda or are like that either. could be wrong, but knowing my sources, i choose to believe it--not that it matters anyway. just passing it on. I was told also that we didn't really recruit Tsirtsis that hard either--didn't fit the Brands style. Like I said, doesn't matter, and I don't care. Just have pretty good sources in this case.

I wrestled at Northwestern from 80-84 and can tell you with certainty that Drew Pariano is one of the best coaches in college I have ever seen. Great guy who needs to run a top 5-10 program like Michigan or Minnesota. I know him quite well and am very impressed with his coaching ability, recruiting ability, and supurb communication skills. Northwestern is a "dead" program. Insane roster limits along with crazy tough admission standards, and a totally expensive school. I doubled majored at NU! Went to Penn for a PHD in my 20's. Academic and financial scholarship. I studied Economics at NU along with teaching. Classroom rigors in the tough majors make wrestling high powered programs like Iowa nearly impossible. The ship has sunk! I had five surgeries before age 25,three nose and both shoulders. I'm a single digit golfer, when I'm on my game, and get numbness in my hands, every five to ten shots. Wrestling at the college level is not all it is cooked up to be.

NU will barely field a program these next few years. Likely 3 forfeits a match during BT season along with rolling out some walking who won't last two minutes with Iowa. I love northwestern sports, especially football, but don't see this being turned around. I like Iowa wrestling! You guys bring it! Liked Jay B also.

Probably has. I hadn't noticed it though.
There have been very few posts on here acting like we didn't want a guy that our coaches recruited hard. Certainly not enough for people to take issue with. I would say sloe is pretty accurate on this one.

Nearly any Minnesota sports forum is a display commonly diagnosed as "penis envy". Wrestling, Football, you name it. Really quite humorous to read and damn funny to see their resentment towards anything "Hawkeye".
It will be entertaining to see if "ole Stroker" ends up as successful at Minny as Reiter was. You know how they thought they scored a big coup when Reiter went there? I suspect similar with Stroker... minus the Twitter posts.

It happens everywhere. Just giving Papa a little static. Not a big deal either way.

Whats going to happen next year with Stroker? Can he beat out Short? Is Short moving to 57? Can Early beat out Short? Is Early going 165 next year? Can Early beat out Kingsley?

I would have said yes on Short but Short has been wrestling well lately. After a year in the room, I think both Stroker and Early will be starting. Nothing real tangible to point to, just my best guess.

Don't know if you guys are baiting someone or being serious? The earlier projections on this forum back a bit had FS @ 157 and Early @ 165. The one thing I expect to happen is that Kemmerer will own whomever the Goofs put against him.
