Who among you remembers when us fans use to lament Iowa's inability to recruit to the secondary? Last year Iowa lead the nation in interceptions IIRC.

I don’t think he is.. the above average Iowa fan knowS who Phil Parker is and how important he has been to Kirk success for the last 19 years.. starting with Matt Bowen all the way to josh Jackson his track record proves he prolly is the most valuable coach to Kirks staff.. I’m sure Kirk is well aware of him..

It’s a perfect situation for Phil and his family, probably. Iowa City is a great place to raise a family, $660,000 goes a lot farther in IC than a lot of other college or professional towns and presumably he gets to work with a bunch of other coaches he really likes to be around.

Pretty good gig and I am glad he is here. I have long since forgiven him for being an MSU grad.

Based on his interview this spring, it sounds like Phil would leave to take a head coaching job if he were offered one. (assuming he thought it was a fit)

It is kind of hard to believe that he has not been offered a head coaching job somewhere, considering his track record.

In fact, I remember hearing when he got the DC position 5-6 years ago that Kirk said that he supposedly turned down a head coaching job some just to stay at Iowa.

Has anybody heard anything to that effect?

Everyone talks about Brian being the next head coach but if Parker wants it, IMO he's the front runner. He's succeeded in every role

I recall that he was being sniffed about head jobs.

But, he's got a pretty damn good gig without all the crap right now. He wants for very little and does not appear to have an ego that is out of control.
