Not mad, proud of the Hawks but growing tired

I'm pretty beaten down about now, although when I saw us throwing up bricks and not even hitting the rim, I saw the writing on the wall. I expect by the time next season rolls around, I'll be recharged and enthusiastic about the new team. Rinse and repeat.

The seeding was a bad break. Playing a higher seeded team 100 miles from their campus is BS. Iowa played like they have all season (except Indiana) on opponents home courts.
So reverse the seeds. It was an 8/9 game, it doesn't matter. The home court "excuse" is a poor one at that. Iowa has played like a poor 1a high school team away from Carver nearly every game.

I had a sense of foreboding all day long. I was hopeful at the half thinking there is no way we could play as bad in the second half. Our offense picked it up but the defense got worse. You just struggle to win when you give up 50+ points in the second half. I am sad, but I try to remember the high points of the season.

Curious. Does the “same movie” include the first round win, second round loss, like 2020-2021?
My guess is that he means only being able to beat hapless teams, losing against teams we're better than, and having absolutely no chance with total no-show against superior teams. 2019 was the one and only exception to that Iowa NCAA Tourney "movie" under Fran.

This isn't every year but I was more excited to see how the women would do and anything the men did would have been a bonus.

Per usual, though, I bought into the hope they provided only to be let down. This team is just so stinking soft! I was so disheartened watching Auburn drive to the rim at will with little to no resistance with the man defending and zero help. The scout had to say let them shoot (yes, I know they shot better than expected) but our dudes were planted to the floor in no man's land.

I was mad to start the second half. I went back to jaded (great descriptive word on I feel). We had chances to get it tied or at least to a one possession game but I was not going to let myself have hope for a win. That's too many years off my life.
Zero charges taken. That’s the epitome of soft on D. We have guys that get out of the way. It’s been 13 years for Fran. Time for a change for both sides. Hope he goes to ND and Barta finds his brain and hires Pearl. I don’t care if he is a questionable hire. He can recruit and close the deal on guys. Fran can’t get the athletic, superior athletes to iowa. Just can’t.

Please, that seeding and game location was the least of our problems. Auburn is one of the least NCAA tournament talented teams I think I've seen in a long time; well except for IA that is.

Face it, we're very mediocre at best unless the Swarm enables us to buy players that even Fran can't mess up.
The seeding was fair the location was not. Auburn was basically given a home court game. Auburn only won 4 away games this season.

Why would the selection committee put Auburn in a region close to home when they should have sent them to any of the other regions? Just BS!!

You know, last year was it for me too - at least under Fran.

How you can have a team with a top 4 NBA pick; top assist, 3 point shot leader (although his defense was suspect), natural, ice-in-his-veins-leader on a team that several national pundits had going as far as the Final 4 not even win 1 game in the Big Dance is beyond ridiculous.

Fran can't assemble a team and can't put together an offensive and defensive game plan that can win the in Big Dance. It couldn't be any clearer.
Rinse and repeat the last three years! Look at the accolades and roster (Weezy, Garza, Murray, Murray, etc) we SHOULD have punched a ticket to the S16 with even an average D...it's the exact inverse of the football team, any semblace of an offense the last several years and we are in the Conf. Champ game every year!

I hated this however if Iowa beats any of E. Illinois/OSU/Wisky/Neb, we get shipped out of that region as a 6/7 seed and not sure it matters as we had a horrendous 30 min of bball and not sure we are here talking about a Saturday game anyway.

We would have been jumping for joy if Iowa went to Des Moines. It happens.

We are acting like there is a difference between an 8/9 seed. There's not. Iowa wasn't winning a game in the tournament this year unless it was at Carver or Fran's driveway.

Yesterday went exactly how I thought it would. I had zero faith in the Hawks.

With that said, Auburn is a VERY hatable team. Jesus Christ, they were celebrating makes halfway through the first half. I’m more pissed that we lost because of that. They were an obnoxious team that you just want to watch lose. But they were on fire against a team that plays no defense.

I wear black and gold glasses……we actually had a chance against Auburn. Down 4 with 4 minutes to go is anybody’s game. I feel bad for the players. Also, there is no way Fran can make judgment about playing time because of nepotism. It’s obvious imo….also why I feel bad for the players! I’ll be cheering for the Hawks forever!

100%. If we hit any of those wide open 3's in the last few minutes a much, much different game however that's the way it goes. Wanna trade places with VA or AZ? Imagine if Cmac threw the ball away like that at the end of the game? This board and all the servers would be absolutely melted down!!!

The difference isn’t a 8/9 seed the difference is location. Why would Iowa be jumping for joy if they went to Des Moines? Because it would give them an advantage. Every article and every analysis on that game I saw mentioned Auburn playing so close to their campus in their home state.

At least the boys can head down to FL for the rest of spring break. Not too far from Gulf Shore or Panama City. Hope they enjoy watching the rest of the tourney from one of those places. Have fun boys over a few beers and viewing the scenery.
