NRA, Republicans block proposed law to stop suspected terrorists from buying guns in U.S.

Why bother. You'll get crickets if you point out Anerica's lax gun laws are a threat to our security.

According to the designations made by the Department of Homeland Security, anybody and everybody can be deemed a suspected terrorist. You pass that law, and they continue to push criteria and federal mandate for who is considered "possible terrorists", and.........

You give them the ability to deny everyone. According to a DHS homegrown terrorist report, religious, non religious, left wing extremes, right wing extremists, people who question government, advocates for gun ownership, people who protest, etc are all considered possible threats.

Show of hands. How many of you repubs on HROT agree with the republican stance on this?
Libertarian and I most definitely do. I explained why earlier. Who decides the standard of who a possible terrorist threat is? How many shootings occurred by those were considered possible terrorist threats?

I feel like I've fallen through that vortex again. What planet am I on? Wouldn't it be cool if there was an app that allowed you to talk to other realities? Maybe I'm part of a blind beta test?

Yes it is simple. You are either with us or with the terrorists.
It's not a simple answer. On the surface it doesn't look good. But, without knowing the criteria that puts someone on this list, you can't answer it. At least you shouldn't try and answer it without that information.

We don't already have the ability to stop terrorist from getting guns and explosives using current laws?

These seems pretty strange. The terrorist watch list will stop you from getting on a plane but won't stop you from buying a gun. Looks to be pretty simple and something we already control, just have the FBI deny the purchase.

This law was first introduced in 2007. I wonder why when the Democrats had total control of the government they did not pass this.

Too busy shoving Obamacare down our throats.

And I agree, I should not have my rights infringed based only on suspicion. Flying on a passenger airplane isn't a constitutional right.

That's a REALLY good question.

That's a REALLY good question.

Perhaps because it hadn't been thought of yet. The Democrats had total control of the government for about six months. They did the best they could, then the Republicans decided that nothing should pass in their attempt to make Obama a one term president.

I'm pretty sure the Dems lost all of those House and Senate seats on their own merit.
