Nunge in Rivals top 150

Like the idea of Baer being Nunge's tutor. Think Jack could learn a lot from him. But that also turns the mind to Baer. I'm wondering what the ceiling is on this kid? Certainly don't think it's endless. Just hard to evaluate because a big part of it is mental. He's combined hustle and court awareness with enough physical talent to be 6th man of the year. I bring it up because, looking at the roster, Baer is really the veteran leader of the team next year. And because of his role of filling in the gaps in Iowa's play, in a way, his personal ceiling will determine how far this team can go. Could he be the team's 2nd or 3rd leading scorer? Could he have a shot at an all-league defensive team eventually?

Good call. I think it's his example of hustle, communication on the court, and basketball intelligence that really sets him up as a leader next year. I think those qualities more than scoring are what set him up as "the man" next year. I never feel it's about stats with Baer, though he sure accumulates them across the box score. It seems like he always has at least a "1" in every column of the box score! Scoring, rebounding, offensive rebounding, steals, assets, 3 pointers, and free throws. If they had a statistic for diving on the floor for loose balls he might have led the nation last year!

I suspect Bohannon and Cook are vocal enough and have bought into the system.

Don't forget Pemsl! He was very vocal on the court and he NEVER backed down from any contact or any player that got in his face--remember the Purdue game and Pemsl going to the floor with 7'2" Haas?

Many forms of leadership...Baer is not as vocal as some others on the team so his leadership comes more by action than words.

Or Baer is one leader and others emerge, especially I suspect from our sophomores. Any good leader can use some Lieutenants and I suspect Bohannon and Cook are vocal enough and have bought into the system.

That'll free Baer up to run the timeout huddles while Fran and staff enjoy a hotdog and soft drink and a nice break now and then.

I mean, the best ceiling Baer has is still between his ears...as far as he's come I just don't see limits to how much further he can go. If I haven't said enough of how cerebral a player I think he is, I tried.

One thing for sure ..no one can tell Nicholas Baer that he can't do something. I can say first hand that Baer's personal measuring sticks are team first & team second. And its real.

Baer is the poster boy for you can't always judge a book by its cover. Can he make All-B1G? I wouldn't tell him he can't but it isn't the ultimate.

I have typically enjoyed Franisdaman's posts and informative threads. But bitching about Dan's long posts while Franisdaman's are longer makes no sense to me. He also says Dan has too much time on his hands while Franisdaman starts half the threads on the forum. Again, makes no sense.
