How is it any different than Medicaid?
Why didn't the government just expand Medicaid? Everybody on ObamaCare brags how they don't have to pay for it. Just like Medicaid.

Originally this was a discussed idea.....Then the GOP stepped in and killed it. The GOP hates two things in America....they HATE Social Security and they HATE MediCare. They always have and they always will.
Strangely, the two most popular social programs in America are Social Security and MediCare. But the GOP is "in touch" with Americans.

Because government needs to be popular to survive

OP, What else grinds your gears? Please enlighten us. I hate when the volume of commercials are 10 times louder than the show I'm watching.

Didn't the government fix this bit long ago? I hate when they cancel a TV show without a wrap up episode.

This is a condemnation of all things American. This is what "we the people" enjoy most.....tell others of "the great deal" we got, be it buying a car, a vacation, a plane ticket, a book, a meal or a service of any kind. Fact is, there is "no deal" as someone pays for any rendered service. I pay for my MediCare every month. I have
been paying for my MediCare ever since I was 18.

The reason we couldn't just expand Medicare is this needed to be paid for. Obamacare attempts to partially pay for itself through some indirect taxes (like forcing people to buy it or else pay a fine, or like the Cadillac tax on companies that offer good insurance, etc). If politicians proposed something straightforward and explicitly said that taxes would have to be raised to pay for it, nobody would vote for it.
