What is our offensive game plan? Today I saw 3 things that just bothers me about this team:

1. Woody catching the ball outside by the 3pt line? WTF is he going to do with it? hand it off, okay but why? HE does nothing out there with it, why have him out there.

2. Off the ball movement. IS our movement just Jok coming off of screens? Not once today or in the last month have I seen Iowa players moving. They pass, jog to a spot and stand there? They have to be the easiest team to defend in all of college basketball. They do not move, their movement is so robotic that its easy to defend.

3. Defense, where has it gone. Man 2 Man and zone are just HORRIBLE. How did they ever stop a team in January? How were they able to defend? I just don't get it how you can lose that.

Our defense needs to be adjusted and the principles of his zone need to be tweaked. Every team has figured it out, You get the ball to one side and and sneak a shooter to the opposite side, then you have a a big set a screen on the middle guy and the guard drives to the middle and it forces the guard back side to collapse, leaving the shooter open for a 3. Every team has been getting 4-5 of these looks a game and now they are making them. When they do hit the 3 Iowa is then over extending on the zone and then the more athletic teams are driving right past us and getting into the lane.

Fran needs to fix the zone rotation. The back side defender is is dropping to far towards the hoop, he needs to stay just outside the lane by a a few feet and more towards the foul line. Woody is tall enough to discourage the skip pass to the corner and that lets the backside guy play more as a floater and a better chance to rotate to the shooter quicker.

In regards to Woody he was playing much better and the offense was moving more when they would actually post him up. We all know he is going to make lots of shots but he was atleast forcing the defense to collapse giving our shooters a better chance.

I think the biggest thing hurting this team is they are not playing with energy and not valuing the ball.

Agree. Next to Uthoff and Jok, Baer was our 3rd best player. Makes me feel really good about recruiting.
