*****Official 2025 Transfer portal thread*****

Reading between the lines right now it looks like we should be getting:
G-Brendan Hausen from KSU
C- Caden Powell from Rice or Duke Brennan from GCU
C- Trevor Jernak (incoming freshman)

Possibly:
G- Nyk Lewis (incoming Freshman)
G- Wes Enis (D2 guard)
G-Honor Huff from Chattanooga
Those would be pretty solid additions. Would love to add any of those guards you listed.

I think the Iowa-Drake guys + those guys would beat Fran's small ball lineup Freeman/Dix/Harding/Payton/Thelwell

Man, you go and do something for a couple of hours and look what happens

Talk about out with the old and in with the new. I recall a time when a previous coach's players would still be in the program for a few years. How times have changed.
Can you imagine if the portal had existed when Raveling took over for Lute? Or when Tom Davis took over for Raveling?

The history of Iowa basketball would look dramatically different.

I'm sure you're right!

It doesn't sound like Davis really enjoyed the recruiting aspect of the job all that much from what I've heard over the years, so it's hard for me to envision him coaching in the portal era.. Raveling, maybe.

That is a good list. I haven't seen Powell play, and maybe only saw Brennan without really focusing on him. Wouldn't Duke be the preferred player? Certainly from a much more successful team, and stats against better competition. I know very little about the 3 possible guards, but agree that we need a PG, preferably one with more than one year of eligibility.

Yeah I would prefer Duke as well. We have a visit lined up with him so hopefully Ben can close the deal.

If we can get Nyk as an incoming freshman to play behind stirtz for one year and learn the offense would be ideal. McCollum loves playing his best guards tonsssss of minutes so hopefully these young guards see that and want to come take advantage of that.

Another PG who is willing to give Stirtz occasional blows, but also as insurance against an injury or even foul trouble, sure seems like a good idea.

While I certainly get the point about the level of compensation...$4M!!!!...you undersell how good of a player JT Toppin is as "OK". All conference type? How about player of the year in the Big XII. "Borderline All American? How about not only a 2nd Team All American, but the top vote getter on the 2nd team, making him the 6th ranked in the entire country.
JT Toppin is expecting 4 million in compensation next year at texas tech... He's an ok player, all conference type, maybe borderline all american but $4 million lol.

I don't personally know many bigger college sports fans than myself. I watch it all but this will likely end that soon
