Official Cowherd thread: Iowa is a fraud, will lose to Nebraska (See Song he wrote, too)

I'm so tired of the disrespect. If you don't think we'll beat Nebraska fine. The fraud crap along with the "they haven't played anybody", which then disrespects every team we've played so far, is really a terrible way to approach the debate. I wonder if the Ravens led by Trent Dilfer would have passed "the eye test". What a bunch of BS.

its my understanding that he was not fired by espn, but that he was offered more money from fox during contract negotiations between himself, espn, and fox. yes espn did take him off of the air before his contract with them was up but after he had already sign a new deal with fox.

I know you typed something there, but with your sig gif for the life of me I can't tell what it was..

How anyone could let Cowherd troll you is comical. It's what he does, and admits that's what he does. Everyone knows how to beat the troll.

He doesn't care about "the fly over states" and doesn't know anything about either team. He's Pac 10 guy.

Cowherd talks about Iowa everyday, not even mad. The Hawkeyes are the most prominent story in the nation right now. Nobody expected us to do this, except maybe Soybean so we're playing with house money folks.

42 teams won their bowl game last year...teams loaded with 4-5 star recruits should be in the top 10...like Texas and USC...according to Cowherd logic...

For the record...I kind of liked listening to him...gone from my area now...

I like both of their interviews, but can't listen to Rome anymore. I was down to Jay Mohr, but he just starting talking shit about the state of Iowa. Still listen to him, but he's clueless on sports and #*%* him. Jersey trash.

I'll shoot myself before I listen to DP.

Mohr and the Cowherd for me.

Cowherd picked Indiana to beat us and called us a fraud then.

Cowherd has never held a football let alone play the game. He would never understand the idea and importance of team play.

Cowherd would have called the 80 Olympic hockey team a fraud.

Cowherd is an act..... He is not a credible source of information.

Forget him. Want to hurt him? Keep tuning him out.

10-0 Cowherd. I know that hurts and we will be 11-0 after next Saturday.

Go Hawks!

I don't necessarily disagree with him. I think we're a solid team. But I don't know that we're a top 5 team. So if that's the definition of "fraud" then maybe we are. We'll see at the end of the season. What's good is that we are getting a ton of press. Hopefully the attention and buzz as well as our new gameday philosophy can help attract more of those 4 and maybe a couple 5 star athletes.

I would love to win a NC, but it won't be a disaster if we're playing a solid team on Jan 1 either. But no matter what happens I just don't want to get embarrassed. Finish strong and build on it.

not standing up for him, he's acting like a dick.. but as far as your question..about Baylor getting beat..maybe he said they'd lose?

Fair question... A couple problems with this

Have you ever been watching a game with "that guy" that predicts "were taking this kick return to the house" or "pick 6 here sure" on EVERY play? Then when he gets it right he's suddenly Nostradamus? All Cowherd does is make picks all day - of course he'll get some right.

And it just wasn't that hard to see coming. Was anyone shocked at that result? He just seemed to be pounding his chest a little too hard.

Really I just don't think these guys live in reality. How can an undefeated BIG team be "overrated"? The goal of the polls and CFB playoff is to identify the best resumes - not teams. Otherwise why play the games at all?

I simply don't understand all the "hate" for Iowa. Cowherd's schtick is to be a hater of anything that's not going as he anticipated, so I can understand that, but there are so many others like that. How can you hate on a program that's built out of 2nd tier recruits with a coaching staff that was on the hot seat, but the A.D. didn't do a knee-jerk firing like is so common nowadays when things aren't going well, and now they're competing at a high level with their best start in 125 years? It's such a terrific story, but I guess it's easier to hate on a team because they're doing well than to commend them for beating the odds and showing the blue bloods that this game isn't just about them.

Keep in mind his past. He has plagiarized, kicked off the air for comments made about Dominicans in baseball, etc. He is NOT a real upstanding guy. HE is a fraud based on his past.

We are not a fraud, but it is quite possible that we lose to Nebraska. If we lose he will go on and on about how right he was. If we win he won't say a thing or will just say how bad nebraska is and that we will get killed by tOSU. At some point he will run out of excuses for Iowa winning.

Jesus... What a weirdo.

I don't "care" what he thinks, but I'm a little uncomfortable with him describing a bunch of college kids as frauds. They didn't ask to be there - they've simply won all their games. How insulting.

And super impressive that he "called" all those teams losing. How did he possibly figure our Baylor would get beat?
No kidding, these frauds include Aaron Rodgers, Brandon scherff, Tom Brady among others. I wonder if this guy would be ok making this speech, especially the part about if you're not a 4/5* you're a loser (pretty much), in ANY NCAA football locker room. I'd love to be there for that. Elitest, bitter & jealous media talkin head wanna be is all he is and needs prayer. In the mean time play this video on "10" in Our locker room until the seasons over.
Thanks Cowturd

Could not agree more

I'm not going to say we beat Nebraska, and I have no illusions that it will be a cakewalk, but man, will it be fun to see Colin's reaction if we do. . . .

And I'm always in favor of a little bit of bulletin board material.

Iowa can play with anyone. The star argument for recruits is stupid. It's a baseline and an inexact science at that, for kids coming out of high school. Didn't mean a damn thing if a coach can't develop them. We have the best staff on the country when it comes to developing the talent they have. And that's not debatable.

Stars don't matter. Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma. They don't recruit players with stars. You have to be stupid to think it should matter to a coach. Really dumb. How could anyone look at recruiting trends and think that perennial powers get the most talented players? So, how do they win the championships? They don't get the best players, because the players they get have the highest star ratings. Imagine what they could do with lower rated athletes. Get real.

Thought finbaum's comment on why Iowa was over ranked cause we lost to Tenn was as dumb as they get. But good old Colin topped it because we don't have any players on our team who were assigned a 5 star next to their name when they were 18 which is true. But we have a few playing like 5 star players as 21-22 yrs olds like Blythe and King.

And many in the NFL. But I guess they don't count if they weren't 5-star high school recruits.

I think Iowa's ability to put players into the NFL says more about the star rating system than anything else. It's not an exact science and Cowturd apparently relies to heavily on it. Only idiots do this.

I'm telling you guys, the talking heads don't know anything about this Iowa team. All they know is the schedule and the results. And if you look at the schedule and results, not as a Hawkeye fan, but as an outsider would view it, you should be able to admit that the only team on that schedule is Wisconsin. Now look at the score of that game. And they have a new coach.
It's not hate. They just aren't buying in to Iowa yet. Don't be so sensitive. It's a cold world out there. Best to grow some thicker skin.

National pundits always slam Iowa when they are having great years. Shock jocks are even worse. Nothing new here. Also the schedule argument is extremely overblown.

I just don't really get why he thinks he's the second coming because of the predictions he has made. None of the things he got "right" were really all that surprising. It's easy to say Iowa will lose at Nebraska, it's a rival road game, not that crazy, Coward. The 5 star player argument is a joke too, I assume he is aware that Iowa has a significant amount of players going to the NFL? Like more than 95% of FBS teams!? Doesn't that kind of render that argument moot? Iowa develops talent, they don't rely on only recruiting it!

Interesting that sports media loves Cinderella teams in March Madness but they hate underdogs in football. Apparently teams that don't get 5* athletes should just play for participation ribbons.

I swear to God I'll pistol whip the next guy who says "eyeball test."

I'm pretty sure ESPN has a copyright on that phrase. Can anyone remember if "eyeball test" was ever uttered in relation to college football before this year (especially the last three weeks)? Next year there'll be a new ridiculous phrase ... something like "Just watching the games, you can tell they don't fill out their jockstraps." Or some hilarious crap that they take seriously.

Secondly, given that Iowa doesn't have any 5 star players and only a quarter of the four-star players on other teams ... well, you would think Iowa would be praised for their incredible run against the odds, credited with great chemistry, excellent coaching, incredible attitude, player development, otherworldly mental toughness, underrated athleticism and strength, and more. But ... no. Fortunately, the only statistic that matters has nothing to do with recruiting stars: 10-0.

Stop listening to him. Stop watching him. Stop talking about him (unless it's to inform the rest of us that he's been dropped from Fox for low ratings).

I don't think there'd be a single post about any of these guys if they just said something like "They've got a nice run going, but I'm not convinced they'll hold up through the B10 championship.....I'll be surprised if they're still in the hunt at the end of the regular season." In fact, most hawkeye fans would probably agree with that. But instead they spout hate, they belittle the team and discount what they've accomplished so far this season. There are a lot of teams with worse schedules to date that they seem to love. It's the disparity in treatment, the red-headed stepchild attitude that really gets to people.

A few things...

It should be obvious that Cowherd gravitates towards the "talent" he wants the best playing the best and when that doesn't happen it bores him, or it grates at him and he feels like he needs to vent.

The other thing is that at least he's put himself out there, so now if we beat Nebraska then he'll either have to own up to it or continue to be a turd and deflect, further digging himself into a hole arguing about Iowa.

He won't let it go, which is great for Iowa because it keeps our name out there and gets people to picking sides. "Colin is right. Iowa is a fraud and we should root against Iowa!!" or "Wtf is this guy saying? I'm rooting for Iowa just to see Cowturd squirm some more!!"

Dolph's call on Daniels' touchdown run was the #1 Call of the Weekend (or Day or whatever), even over Paul Allen's call of Adrian Peterson's 80-yd TD run, and it is hard to top Paul Allen...;)

He also said he at least liked our alternate uniforms....so there's that.

He's playing the role of the villain while keeping Iowa in the spotlight. By all means, continue....

I actually listened to him sometimes, I didn't agree with many of his opinions, but it was at least different than just the safe sports guys like Mike and Mike who don't really offer up any opinions at all. He's a tool, you just can't take him serious.

He's really off the deep end here, the amount of time he spends on Iowa is insane. He's turning into the modern day Jim Rome. Not nearly to that point..but getting closer.

I did laugh the other day, he just got through with a rant about Iowa's schedule and went through it bagging on the teams..when he got to Iowa State he said that they were dogfood. Later his female counterpart said that a family member went to Iowa State and he loved listening to him badmouth Iowa and maybe he should go to the Iowa State campus since they now love him. He said, "Yeah...of course I did just call Iowa State dogfood."
He's right about Iowa, wrong about Iowa State; batting .500 isn't bad.

That was a joke, guys and gals.

Should have clarified, I don't agree with him on the fraud part.

I just agree with him that I think Nebraska can upset us. Superbowl.

That is all they have left in this world, to beat us.

he went on another rant today; he says nobody even thinks about Iowa. Well, he clearly is thinking about Iowa; otherwise, why is he constantly talking about the Hawks?

The selection committee is thinking about Iowa; they have Iowa at #5.

Cowherd is an idiot.;unfortunately Iowa fans are tweeting him, calling in, etc and giving him the desperate attention he seeks.
