Let’s try to keep this thread focused on Indiana’s first trip to the WNBA playoffs since 2016, please.

Caitlin Clark and the Fever return to the court tomorrow night when they host defending champion Las Vegas for the first of two games. The Fever and Aces will play again Friday night, also in Indy.

A’ja Wilson sat out Sunday’s loss to New York after tweaking her ankle against Connecticut last Friday. Her coach has said she is day-to-day and she is not currently listed on the injury report, so presumably she will play against Indiana.

The Aces will almost certainly be playing a 4/5 matchup with Seattle in the first round. At this point their primary motivation is maintaining their 1-game lead over the Storm for seeding purposes. Depending on the severity of Wilson’s injury, they might be forced to choose between chasing home court advantage in the first round and letting Wilson rest to make sure her ankle is healthy for the playoffs.

After getting a fair amount of media attention in the early part of the season, former Hawkeye Kate Martin has seen her playing time decrease in the second half of the season. She played 12 minutes last week in a blowout win over Chicago, but for the most part she has only been playing about 3-5 minutes per game since the Olympic break.

Indiana has four total games remaining and Phoenix also has four remaining. Any combination of 2 Indiana wins or Phoenix losses in those 8 games will secure the #6 seed for the Fever and a first round matchup against the #3 seed. At this point that would most likely be Connecticut or Minnesota but it’s also possible that Las Vegas could move up if they finish strong and one of those teams falters.
