Put your name on it!

I could see the defense making this a game. But we have such a poor history against them, and they're really hitting their stride now. Unstoppable offense, and disruptive defense. I just don't see it, lads.

Thanks for the great turnout!

This was certainly the most off game since Iowa State. That game actually turned out a little worse, with an average score of 56.41. Saturday's average score was 51.35.

Parker D should have gone with his first answer, he would have won. Since his final answer was 38-3 OSU, instead the winner is . . .

@larrygreenwallswildride ! Despite predicting the Hawks to lose by 29, yes he's the closest. The penalty for the wrong team is 10 points. He was 2 points off the final margin and 24 points off the total for a winning score of 36. There was a four-way tie for second with 38 points.

Given this, I'll probably change the formula for next season. Getting the winner right needs to weigh more heavily in the scales. I pulled 10 out of thin air, not really knowing how the margin and total points would average out. If I set the penalty to 20 instead, it actually wouldn't have changed the top of the table. This will warrant some thought.

It could be closer if the Bucks are on cruise control, but if Meyer wants to make a statement it could be Katie-bar-the-door.

If a blowout, do not be surprised to see their starters in until nearly the end.

Same prediction as the Yes/No thread.

Hawks score off two field goals on first two drives, Josey INT return, Wadley 65 yard screen and finally a blocked punt return.

27-23 Hawks

Here's my analysis (disclaimer – I'm older than most of your fathers, so I've probably entered into senility, and you should probably discount anything I say by about 30%). Applying what I saw in the Ohio State/Penn State game to the outcome of the Iowa/Penn State game (which, admittedly, I have not watched), I think Iowa will match up fairly well against us, but not as well as you matched up against Penn State. While the score doesn't show it, we pretty well dominated Penn State in the trenches. It doesn't show up in the score, because we spotted Penn State 14 points in the opening minutes of the game, by allowing a 99 yard kickoff return, followed by a fumble deep in our own territory early in our opening drive. Our defense held the Penn State offense to just 283 total yards while our offense racked up 529 yards. Saquon Barkley had just 44 yards on 21 carries, 36 of those coming on one carry. He gained exactly 8 yards on his other 20 carries. I point all this out only to say that while Penn State has a very good team, the Buckeyes are a notch over Penn State, and that is particularly true on offense. Of course, it all counts, and if you guys have a kick off or punt returner comparable to Barkley, and if we get careless with the football again, this game could play out not very differently from the Penn State game. But I'm assuming that we will have only average problems with our special teams and football handling, so we should be good for about 10 to 14 points more against the Iowa defense than Penn State was. At the same time, our defense is a little bit better than Penn State's defense, so we should be able to hold Iowa to a little bit fewer points than Penn State allowed. Hence my final prediction of 34-16.
I realize that the transitive property does not work well in college football, but what the heck, you have to have SOME method.

OSU- 17
Iowa- 20

I think Iowa's bend but don't break defense holds true this week. I think we get a FG and Iowa's defense gets a big turnover late! GO HAWKS!

Think it could be a good game for awhile, but the Hawks will need everything to go their way for a chance at the upset.
OSU 28
Hawks 17

Other than a flat OSU that commits five or six turnovers, I see no path to victory for Iowa.

It's difficult to even see a path to a respectable loss.

If you can't move the ball against Illinois and Minnesota, how the heck are ya gonna move it against OSU?

If Iowa had an imaginative coach who game planned for opponents and wasn't embarrassed at the thought of using trick plays, well, Iowa might make it interesting.

But there will be no Hayden Fry or Steve Spurrier type on Iowa's sideline tomorrow afternoon. Alas, Hawkeye fans truly have no hope beyond a college football miracle of biblical proportions.

About 1952 OSU beat Iowa 83-21. Then Evy took over, and Iowa beat Ohio State in 1956 by a score of 6-0, breaking OSU's conference record winning streak of 17 straight.

Unfortunately, tomorrow is far more likely to resemble 1952 than 1956.

OSU 31
Iowa 0

Yep, I think there's a real chance Iowa gets shut out for the first time in nearly 200 games.

As a Buckeye fan I hope OSU scores 3 TDs in the first quarter and have won the game by halftime and I can sit back for a boring, but relaxing blowout. Of course I hope for that every week, including last week.

What I think will happen is a combination of OSU hangover, Stellar Iowa Defense, and a Hawkeye offense that eats up time by converting some third and longs, excites the home crowd, emotionally shuts down the Buckeyes, and we hit halftime with Ugly play and a four point game with either Iowa or the Buckeyes ahead.

At best, OSU has some big plays and the talent depth plays in for a 28-17 win that is much close than the score would indicate. I fear a 24-19 game where the last team to score wins.

Man I hope you are right, and also love the optimism from some of my fellow hawks. I am just not seeing this Iowa team being able to hang with osu this year.

I really hope I am wrong, but..........

45-6 O$u.
Our offense doesn't find the endzone.
O$u averages a first down on every snap in the first half. We average -2 yards on first down.
