Chip Kelly was Ryan Days OC when he played QB at New Hampshire. He hired Day as QB coach for thr 49ers. There is a long history there.

That's because Urban Meyer was the coach. Day doesn't like to run his QBs, even when he had Justin Fields. But now Chip Kelly is calling plays and he doesn't mind running the QB.

I can’t help but think this plays out much like the 2022 game; Iowa defense hangs tough but wears out after spending most of the game on the field. OSU will focus on stopping KJ, and Cade will fail to make them pay for it.

31-13 seems like a pretty reasonable score. It would really be something though if KJ went for 1 fiddy+ and ripped off a couple of long ones to cover.

You really see Iowa holding OSU under 30 ? I know the defense played lights out against Michigan last year but Harbaugh likes to play Kirk ball, he can just do it better than Kirk
When Iowa plays teams that are more dynamic on offense we see the PSU/OSU/TN type beat downs.
I think only way Iowa has a chance is to hold OSU <14 points. Iowa getting 17 would mean KJ running for 200+
Iowa’s not winning, but if Iowa could hold onto the ball for more than 1-3 plays a drive, (other than Tennessee) those are competitive games.
Iowa seems to have an offense that can at least get some first downs and not end up having our offense making tackles every third drive. Worse teams than Iowa hang with OSU. We just have PTSD from Brian ball.
Now, watch it be 42-3 at halftime.
Remember, Iowa State defeated Kansas State and Will Howard in the “Snow Game” last fall. He’s a very good and versatile QB. His best quality is probably that he is very experienced. It’s actually rare for tOSU to trot out a QB with as much starting time as Howard. Usually they are gone to the NFL at this stage. And I predict Howard will spend time in the league as a backup.
Like others have said, he’s not a flashy runner, but he can get yardage when needed. With all the weapons at his disposal, he doesn’t need to do a lot.
While the offense has certainly improved under Lester, it still suffers from previous recruiting and development mistakes, as is obvious from the lack of any semblance of a passing game. That doesn't get corrected without upgrades in personnel and a few years of coaching. So yeah, the Brian ball scars remain.
Produce a birth certificate on that game, or it never happened.
I remember Purdue killed Ohio State in 2018.
