Ok. .......Cincy

Hmmm. I think it is a valid argument that Connor is playing as well as he is at least in part due to his reduced burden of being a primary lead guard. He shines as a utility guy. With Joe T and Bohannon and even CJF able to assume more of that ballhandling responsibility, Connor can be more effective as a generalist.

I’m open to this type of opinion.

Connor was playing very well before the lineup change. The team is better since the change because we have the best players on the floor. Connor and Joes flexibility on defense allows us to do that.

I don’t disagree. But Connor’s great and consistent play on offense can certainly be arguable that it is at least in part to reduced burden via more shared burden in terms of ballhandling. It’s not really my own argument, but I think it’s not invalid.

I think Connor is playing well because 1) he’s simply better, stronger, healthier, fitter, more experienced; 2) he’s surrounded by better basketball players this year which is a better fit for a player like him; and 3) I think the culture of this team is improved since last year, which makes the game more fun, and when players enjoy playing together they tend to play better.

Regarding #2: CJF and no Tyler Cook seems to be an upgrade in basketball skill, meaning CJF is a more complete and natural player than Moss, and then Tyler was kind of still trying to figure it out from an all-around floor game. And I’m not trying to knock either Moss or Cook—love both those guys. Moss is playing well for my guy Jerrance at Kansas. And I think Cook will eventually be a solid NBA guy once he gets the right fit and, of course, continues to evolve.

The ball moves more and better this year, almost always four good decision-makers on the floor, multi-skilled guys with a good feel for the game. This suits Connor.

i've shared bits and pieces of all this but Huggins used to live a less than a block from my and my son played against both Cumberland's in travel basketball when they were all young. Jared turned into a very good player and is a very physical player.

In talking to my Cincy friends (of which are few as most are XU and OSU fans), this team does not look like many of the past. Not near as good defensively and have given up many more points this season. New regime with Cronin gone and a bit of a new face to the program. Offensively, UC has not up and down so far but they are scoring at a higher clip than in the past.

The game will come down to simple stuff...3 point shooting, turnovers, fouls etc. Certainly Iowa should feel very good about their chances but will this also be the game where a potential JBo absence leaves us a few FT's short? Also remember Joe Fredrick is from Cincinnati to he will be jacked up for this too!
