Connor was playing very well before the lineup change. The team is better since the change because we have the best players on the floor. Connor and Joes flexibility on defense allows us to do that.
I don’t disagree. But Connor’s great and consistent play on offense can certainly be arguable that it is at least in part to reduced burden via more shared burden in terms of ballhandling. It’s not really my own argument, but I think it’s not invalid.
I think Connor is playing well because 1) he’s simply better, stronger, healthier, fitter, more experienced; 2) he’s surrounded by better
basketball players this year which is a better fit for a player like him; and 3) I think the culture of this team is improved since last year, which makes the game more fun, and when players enjoy playing together they tend to play better.
Regarding #2: CJF and no Tyler Cook seems to be an upgrade in basketball skill, meaning CJF is a more complete and natural player than Moss, and then Tyler was kind of still trying to figure it out from an all-around floor game. And I’m not trying to knock either Moss or Cook—love both those guys. Moss is playing well for my guy Jerrance at Kansas. And I think Cook will eventually be a solid NBA guy once he gets the right fit and, of course, continues to evolve.
The ball moves more and better this year, almost always four good decision-makers on the floor, multi-skilled guys with a good feel for the game. This suits Connor.
