OK, Why Is the Market Going Down Today?

I think it's a good time to be on the sidelines. I pulled completely out of the market some time back and I think I'll be on the sidelines for a while then back in, conservatively invested.

Today felt like a day when many institutions sold off their winners. the market leaders that have done nothing but put up tremendous results like NFLX and FB just got pounded today. Probably happens again tomorrow. it will be a very illiquid Friday.

The Shanghai index is the fun one to watch. Currently the Chinese govt has so many controls in place it is crazy. they have forbidden short selling- going on a month now- and they have put serious restrictions on what institutions can sell.

Obama and his mishandling of the economy.

No, you said the market would be "down" at yar end. Down from what? It's all time high (S&P 500 = 2130)? Where it started the year (2058). Where it was when you posted this (say, about 2070)?

That is what I was asking.

I would love another big market drop because I'm younger. But for those of you that are close to retirement, you stock/bond investment ratio should be heavier on the bond side. If the market takes a big hit i.e. another recession (or close to) and your heavily invested in stocks, then that's your own fault. Sorry. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Investing in stocks (i.e. buying pieces of companies) is absolutely not gambling.
SSSHHHH don't tell guys like wwjd. If not for people like that it would be much harder to make money in the market.

Sort of a free fall right now. However, the sell off of the market leaders is looking over done. The financials sector sell-off is what is really weighing on everything.

I think it is getting close to turning the other way.

I just meant I would put the trade in over the weekend. Will do a Vangurd 500 ETF, so it will execute early Monday (assuming my limit is satisfied).
Good call. Safe call. Lots of OILS in there though, you ok with that?

Gotta love Larry Kudlow. Whatever is happening anywhere in the world, the the answer is to cut US corporate taxes.

Doctor: I'm sorry to tell you this Mr Kudlow but you have HIV.

LK: Quick, cut corporate taxes.
