Oklahoma not happy about the time slot given to the Sooner/Little Debbie Game

OMG, you Little Debbie fans are something else....it's like you live in a alternate universe.

So, why on earth would the OU AD be so unhappy about the situation where he felt that he had to issue a statement revealing his outrage?

Little Debbie is irrelevant & is the official snack cake of the B1G and OU is now clearly & fully aware.

The OU AD is unhappy because its an 11 AM game and 11 AM gams suck. This is a special event for OU/NU and they wanted to make a big recruiting weekend out of it for the their fanbase.

FOX doesnt care about that, they want the ratings. That is why they chose OU/NU.

If it was such a special event, why did your coward athletic director and your coward head coach, who hides in closets when women are getting beat up, desperately try to get out of this game?

Probably because they don't want to get murked on National TV

Oh, Little Debbie, you're cracking us all up
Nebraska draws ratings, why else would they be added to the Big Ten? Their stellar academic reputation? Their recruiting base? Nebraska brings eyeballs.

Now is a 6-6 Nebraska team gonna outdraw a Top 10 game? No. But a 6-6 Nebraska-Illinois game is gonna outdraw a 6-6 Purdue - Illinois game.

Blue Bloods are always relevant. That’s how Nebraska is able to consistently out recruit everyone in the division. That and an energetic stud head coach.
You mean Debbie out recruits on paper. Most of those recruits are trouble and don't amount to much. As for your head coach, please keep us rolling in laughter

OU is going to be a juggernaut

Are they going to practice defense this year? It doesn't seem like it has been a point of emphasis for them in recent seasons. They actually seem offended by the notion of tackling. Nubby will probably score 30 but give up 50+ aginst them.

I’ll bite. If the following 2 answers are yes I agree. First, be average on D (not great but just average). And second, not blow big leads cause they are bored. It seems every year Okie gets up big in a game and either loses or tries to lose. They do both then yes I would concur they are going to be elite.

They are becoming elite on D. They took a huge step forward on that side of the ball last year and their offense is going to be just as strong. They are a very legitimate National Title Contender this year. I believe Nebraska is going to be much improved this year and OU will handle them with relative ease, but strange things can happen on week one.

Quite the dilemma, isn't it?

OU blows out Nebraska, effectively finalizing the "Nebraska is no longer a blue blood" debate with our friends in Lincoln.

But if Nebraska plays them close (or wins if you believe in miracles) the "big" 12 conference will have been revealed to be the weak conference it is. Their reigning conference champ should never lose (or even be challenged) by a team that has a .363 winning % over the last 4 years...especially at home.

It's a win either way.

The only reason that the Big10 added Nebraska was the thinking that they were adding a legitimate higher level football program with national recognition. In retrospect that was a mistake. In the past 10 years it has become obvious that Nebraska's best days are in the rear view mirror and they added pretty much nothing to the league. Ratings? The fact of the matter is that nobody east of the Missouri River or west of the Rockies cares about Nebraska anymore. Both basketball and football have been mediocre/bad pretty much from the start, seemingly getting worse every year, and the academics drag down the reputation of the conference as the lowest ranked and the only institution not a member of the AAU. It was a dumb move by the Big10. A lot of people question adding Rutgers and Maryland but those markets are massive and the academics are strong. Maryland is also a top 15 basketball program. Nebraska on the other hand has been a doormat the last several years in both sports.

28th in the country is elite? Only in L'Ames. Fleck has patented the use of "elite" BTW. He will have his stripper wife put a beatdown on your POS AD if you don't cease and desist.

Sooners dont realize that Nebbie is now irrelvant to tv ratings. You schedule nebbie you wont get prime time unless there is no/little competition, ie Iowa/nebbie black Friday. There is a reason it is scheduled on Friday and not saturday

11 is Fox prime time because they don’t want to compete in the other time slots with their best game.

Mountain Time is the best zone for sports, IMHO.

But it would be great for the economy, and I think for most sports, if the US went to only two time zones. China, about the same east-west size as the US, has only one. FWIW, of course.
I agree. Mountain time is just a smidge better than Central time for sports.

You can still watch the end of the west coast games.

I love it a nice warmup before the Iowa game at 230 to watch OU put a beat down on the huskers prior to the game.

As for last years big rating for their game vs Ohio st have to remember it was first big 10 game plus let’s be honest Ohio St was bringing the ratings for that game. Sure if it was msu, minny or Iowa still have gotten about same amount. But people wanted to see fields and how Ohio st looked.

Midwest fans really don't understand how well they have it when it comes to time slots for games.

The east coast willingly subjects themselves to the 8 pm start times for the night games, which means games don't get done until 11 or later. But perhaps they've really just been serving their Midwestern overlords this entire time........

Funny, I feel the exact opposite. Big games kicking off at 8p is the perfect cap to a Saturday of football. Get the kids to bed, pour a drink, and settle in. Only time it sucks is when the natty is played on a Monday.
