Oliver Martin, Mystery Man

Oliver, do your family and friends and fans a favor and go to iowa, much much easier for them to watch you play at kinnick. If you're good enough to play on Sundays it doesn't matter at all where you go. Be a hawk Ollie

No experts are saying Iowa has zero chance. And anyone saying Michigan is a favorite is just guessing.

This. Its 247. They had Eno, Chevin and Epenesa all picked to go somewhere else right up until they chose Iowa, then the "experts" changed their minds. Their crystal ball is a joke. Anybody who is a writer for a team can make a pick on there, and it gets passed along as a legit prediction.

Sort of like you?

Exactly. I am not saying I know where he is going. The kid hasn't given anything away in his recruitment and anybody making picks at this point is just guessing. Look at what happened yesterday with the #1 bball recruit. For a year most "experts" thought he would go to KU and if not KU then probably UK. He picked Arizona.

"Zero for Iowa"

Obviously you are talking about crystal ball projections. That does not mean zero chance that Iowa will get him. And again those guys are just guessing and they will all change right before the announcement when people find out what school he is going to to make it look like they were right.

The crystal ball is simply a guide. Recruitments change all the time, so that's why crystal balls change all the time. I'll never understand why people get upset over them. The national guys are accurate 88%, 82%, and 79% of the time with an average days correct of 40, 31, and 54 respectively. I'd rather be able to see that free information than not having any access at all.

I really hope he ends up at Iowa. However, KF always seems to let one elite recruit from the state leave despite the fact they have Iowa offers.

I can see how Martin being from Iowa City could work against him going to Iowa. Sometimes a kid wants to get away from home a bit for college.

Well, looks like a good recruit so I hope we get him. Always nice to get the Iowa kids, makes it more special (for both parties). Whatever happens it is what it is, not gonna get worked up about it.

I think I'll wait for the young man to decide. If any of "experts" were on this board many would have told the "trolls to go home" I like Iowa's chances because close to home, gets to see his sisters compete, and knows the hawks. In the pictures I looked at in recruits visiting the game looked to me like he was enjoying him self quite well actually and being the smart kid I imagine he is he doesn't talk to a lot of people so he doesn't have to listen to what everyone thinks he ought to do! Going to college is important and for someone to have as many options as he has would cause a thinking person to go slow and ask questions and go see for him/herself what is out there. Second guessing yourself later would be a killer. Only a view from an older person.

Experts say Iowa has a zero chance...after reading this, I've already forgotten about him as a recruit. Good luck to the young man and Go Hawks!
One "expert" - a Michigan Homer. FWIW, all of Michigan's mods at Rivals say He's an Iowa lean. Other reports from sources close to his family say he didn't enjoy his trip there. True? I don't know, but I wouldn't kiss him off just yet. In fact, from all I've heard, I think he ends up at Iowa.

This. The use of experts here with any real knowledge is laughable.

Would love to see Oliver follow in Tim Dwight's footsteps:

< Friends and family all saw him play every home game....check
< Fan favorite because he's local kid loyal to State's greatest program.....check
< Started early and electrified the fan base and team every time he touched the ball......check
< Help get Iowa to an even higher level than when he joined......(well Hawks struggled a little late under HF)
< Developed under a great program and coach......check
< Play for the same head coach your entire college career......check
< Program got him ready for several years of playing on Sunday after getting his degree....check
< Lifelong legend in his home state......check

Oliver goes to Michigan or MSU and he's just another player there. Possibly not even ever at top of their depth chart with the 4-star skill players they can attract annually, and could suffer in future playing time. And when he comes back to Iowa to visit, doesn't even get recognized on the street. Sad.

Come to Iowa Oliver! Be a legend in the Hawkeye State the rest of your life!

Sounds good to me. Would love to have him.

I think everyone has their panties in a wad over this guy. We have enough positive recruiting momentum right now without worrying about Martin. If we land him: GREAT!
If not: NEXT!
There is far more positives right now recruiting wise than negative. I refuse to let one high school player ruin that for me.
