I see he is doing an official visit to the Clones this week. Are we still recruiting him? He's clearly a long shot based on his ranking, but just wondering if the latest news on him.

ISU / Creighton / Nebraska likely ahead of Iowa at this point.

If I'm Fran I keep sending video of Keegan Murray to OB, and his then his likely 1st Round draft status.

and Kansas? Several posters here thought there was little chance he'd play any college BBall. Maybe that changed with the handouts some players are getting?

There have been so many rumors around this kid, it's impossible to know. And I don't mean bad things. He doesn't really do social media, you'll hear one minute he isn't even going to college then the next minute he's taking a bunch of visits, etc. I actually think he's playing it very close to the vest and I don't trust anything anybody is saying about his recruitment because I don't think anybody really knows.

I don't know about Omaha, but yes that should change the landscape. Jalen Green made $500,000 in the G-league. I'd think the NIL's some top prospects get in college could compete with that while playing lesser competition and getting way more exposure.

NIL changes the game of amateur athletics. If Iowa isn't going to play like the big boys, then we will always be relegated to a lower status. Surely some Iowa fan with deep pockets could step forward and at least give him something to think about.

If Creighton, Nebraska and Iowa St are ahead of us it has nothing to do w/NIL.

Yet ... :)

Not to change the subject. I was at the Iowa women's game today which sucked but Sherm had a recruit walking around with him, does anybody know who that would be?

Word is it might be kansas with $$ to sass.
He’s been for sale since his freshman year.

Right, get the checkbook out Ronman !

You don't know that for a fact.
While I don't know that for a fact, I haven't seen that the NIL has pushed any recruits to those 3 schools at this point. There is also no reason those schools would have more to offer in the NIL vs Iowa. Also, is NIL even worth it for a supposed 1 and done kind of guy that honestly wouldn't push the envelope much here? While I think it would be great to get a top 5 top 10 kind of kid basketball plays a clear 2nd fiddle at Iowa. And I don't think anyone on the FB team besides Linderbaum really received much of anything through the NIL. The whole thing is way overblown as a recruiting tool in my book. At least at this point.

Haven’t been overly impressed with Biliew, and a National rating of 7 really surprises me. I don’t think he’ll be a total bust but seems to have a lot of development built into the rating.

Whats with the constant school jumping?

Why haven’t you been impressed?

Coming from one of his old HS coaches, Omaha has zero interest in being a student athlete and his only goal is to get to the NBA. He has alot of AAU scum-bags in his ear, hence the multiple transfers during the last 3 years.
There also family issues where he may need to provide for many, alot of gravy-trainers watching his every move.
I am not sure if Iowa is still recruiting him, but I would cut bait.

You know that how?
Please follow along. It’s not that hard. Have any of those 3 schools had any big NIL’s to this point? I’m not talking about something with a local jeweler or something. So many people on here act like NIL is or will be this giant game changer. Is Omaha Billew really going to influence a ton of people for a 1 year stint somewhere? Not saying he might not get something, but bigger than what Caitlyn Clark has at Hy Vee? I don’t know.

I agree, however it only takes 1 person with money to possibly land someone these days. You just never know anymore.

Fran has a positive relationship with the kid. We will see in time.

Some quotes by an article in Forbes magazine:

"While I wholeheartedly support NIL, I do think there is a real chance that the advent of NIL rights will exacerbate the long-existing separation between the haves and have-nots of college athletics.

If I were a Division I athletics director, I would either (a) hire at least 2 people whose sole task would be to manage the brands of my student-athletes or (b) hire a consulting firm like Opendorse, INFLCR or Altius Sports Partners to assist with the same.

However, as we all know, Division I conferences and schools are not built equally in financial terms. The more successful and lucrative among the Power 5 schools would have the easiest time making these expenditures, and thus, further gaining a recruiting edge against their competitors which would reinforce current on-field and off-field disparities."
