EVERY time a coaching change happens they brag that 'this coach' will dominate Iowa, this coach will out recruit Iowa, this coach will control the state's talent. Then argue the Big 12 is the toughest league in the history of football and that the West of the big ten is so weak they'd win it. I once again point out the numerous JC transfers and projects that is the ISU cyclones.:eek:o_O

What are you trying to stir up? Fans are fans are fans - i hope they would feel that way - having hope is a wonderful thing in life! I love the Hawks but our fans operate the same as ISU, NE or WI - we are no better or no worse.

So what you're saying is.......Iowa is better than Iowa State.

Iowa State fans are bragging, who cares. As far as I know fans do not take the field and play the game.

Iowa fans constantly starting threads about ISU makes me think if the game was played between fans Iowa fans would care more

Ironic thing is I went to Iowa State, but I have always been a Hawkeye fan. That's what happens when you graduate high school and you lived closer to Ames then Iowa City and to keep my girlfriend happy I stayed closer to home. I even Wore My Hawkeye clothing on State's campus. Lol I did however atend football and basketball camps at Iowa , back whenLute Olson was still the coach. I would be perfectly happy if the Hawkeyes were undefeated each year and the Cyclones lost one game. A strong Iowa State football program makes a Hawkeye victory that much sweeter. I also might add that I only attended Iowa State one year, then I shipped off to the US Air Force.

Right now the BIG 12 is on life support. They might pull through but their options for survival leave them watered down...that might be good for Iowa State. Then again if they continue to struggle, even after adding crappy teams to their conference, they will look all that much worse. ISU is a very interesting fan base. Back in the 80's and 90's they were the joke of college football and their fans were either very quiet or non existent. Then in 1998 they beat Iowa and changed the fan base forever. They have a few mediocre seasons but for the most part the past 15-18 years they have been quite rotten in football but that fan base still gets all hyped up about things. Its just weird to see a fan base get excited for being crappy.

If ISU had a message board it would make me think that their average fan was actually literate & not married to their 250 pound first cousin.

Who cares. Let them do whatever they want. The games are played on the field.

No one obsesses over Iowa more than little bro.

Long live cryclown fanatic.

You have more posts about Iowa State than any other poster I've seen. And that includes the Iowa State boards. I've never seen anyone so obsessed. It's both comical and sad.

But hey, keep em coming. I enjoy them.

How will ISU ever again beat a team whose head coach has an 8-9 record against them?

In that time frame how many major bowls did ISU go to? I know, I know your new coach won all those titles in Pop Warner as a waterboy.

ISU fans needs to have a team to back their boasts. Being the 2nd worse team in the Big 12 or maybe the worse, ISU fans should be more worried about improving their standing in the conference before the Big 12 folds. Maybe then some other conference will want to pick them up.

Doing my best to be just like cy twins and DUP Clowns on cryclown fanatic and cy city here. I have thousands of posts to go but as you say I will "keep em coming".

Must ignore? Of course we must.

When will isu ever win a conference championship in football again? When will isu ever compete in a New Years six bowl? When will isu ever have a national coach of the year?

Gee there sure is a lot isu has never done or hasn't done in football since 1912.

More little bro syndrome please.

What do you know, another ISU post from herkyfan. Let's see if we can get this one past 10 pages like most the Cyclone posts on here. I'm waiting...

Oh look another isu grad that ignores. Must be a required course at isu. Ignore anything that shows how isu, it's fan base, players, coaches, AD, racist students, web site owner/operators and of course donors act.

That simply won't be tolerated. Maybe Macrocy will have an answer for us. I am betting he won't. Any takers?

Great, great discussion. Love the passion we both have for ISU. Let's not stop. What do you think of our AD?

Called it, I win again.

Love the passion. Maybe you'd rather discuss Coach Campbell. I think his recruiting has exceeded expectations and love his use of social media. Of course, all that really matters is wins and losses. Thoughts?

I think given the circumstances Campbell did a great job of piecing together his first recruiting class. I know nothing about his use of social media, but do agree that in the end wins and losses are what really matters (though I think other things matter too when it comes to mentoring and coaching "student athletes").

Iowa State struck out with Chizik and Rhoads, so maybe third time's the charm with Campbell. We shall see.

I like discussing sports and prefer this to which fan base has the biggest crush on the other.

You are correct. Wins and losses. If after 4 years he is winning 3 or 4 a year he will be toast. This is where, in my opinion, it will be interesting to see if he makes the Big 12 his focus. If he has a .500 record against Iowa and that is all he stands for then you will be replacing another coach. If he consistently beats the garbage in the Big 12 and breaks through with a couple of wins where he is the dog, then he can build on that. They need to start having some upper division finishes otherwise they are at a huge risk at staying in a P5. The ability to win 3 non Conf games AND make some sort of noise in the conference is mandatory....and soon.

I agree with this. McCarney brought Iowa State out of the cellar and took them from the laughingstock of college football to a regular contender for a bowl game. In 2002, they were actually ranked in the top 10 (if I remember correctly) for a brief stretch (one week?).

However, somewhat similar to Iowa and Tom Davis (Iowa had been good in basketball prior to Dr. Tom, which is what I mean by "somewhat similar"), McCarney was shown the door ostensibly for the purpose of bringing in a coach to take Iowa State to the next level. And just like with Iowa basketball, the next two coaches took the program backwards.

In short, Campbell will have to show improvement every year and offer reasonable hope that under him Iowa State can at least challenge once in a while for national relevance. Otherwise, I agree, by year 4 if there is no sign or reasonable hope of that occurring, the unrest will be rampant and loud rumblings for a coaching change will be heard in Cyclone land once again.
