One game away from playing for a National Championship....

...along the way Iowa will have went undefeated and won the B1G Championship as well. The more I think about this, the crazier it is getting. It's easy to forget where Iowa was before this season. Pretty much written off and awaiting for KF to retire. Let's face it, that was THE narrative. Talk about a twist in the plot eh?

Now here Iowa is, and KF has a 4th B1G Coach of the Year(it is also very possible that he wins National Coach of the Year also), and Iowa is sitting at 12-0 with a very beatable MSU team in their way. No disrespect to MSU, but I'd be a lot less confident had OSU been on the other side of the field. Iowa can win this game, and regardless of whether pundits want to admit that or not, it is very true.

This is truly the best and craziest season I've ever seen from Iowa. These are good times to be a Hawkeye.

I really hope that is the attitude of the coaches this week as they prep for the game. I'd love to see an unpredictable game plan that has the Spartans guessing all game long.

He's assuming that we get by MSU... and if we take care of Sparty then we will be just 1 win away from playing for a National Championship which is DEFINITELY mind boggling to say and think about.

Agreed, and CJ with not playing in the cold weather, he will likely throw much better than recently. I don't think they completely take away our run though. Nebraskas defense in stopping the run was very comparable to MSU's, as a matter of fact it is rated as the better rushing defense statistically. We have 4 RB's all with different skill sets, all with lots of experience, and I think along with the line they can and will get their yards. Especially if CJ gets his rushing yards in.

No we're not, once you're in the playoffs you're playing for a National Championship. You want to play semantics today? We can play all day long.

Like I said to Mark, the entire point of the semi-finals is playing for a National title, period. Once you're in the playoffs, you're playing for a National title.

I saw a projection that said Fiesta Bowl vs. Notre Dame. That would be nice at least.

Like I said to Mark, the entire point of the semi-finals is playing for a National title, period. Once you're in the playoffs, you're playing for a National title.

With that logic we were playing for a National Championship when we played Illinois State.

At this point if somehow we trip up against Sparty, its possible we could still make the Rose if other things happen to other teams.... outside of that the Fiesta would snap us up in a hearbeat since we have never been to that bowl and they know how well we travel. PLUS having a marquee match-up against ND would be huge as well.

The playoffs are a 2-part series. To get to part 2, you have to win part 1. Hence, playing for a National title once you are in.
