One Guys Opinion of 2016/17 Big Ten Basketball

One would think Christian Williams would be mentioned

Yeah, there were about one dozen things I caught like that. Gotta figure he doesn't follow Iowa, or the Big Ten, like us diehard fans. ;) Just something to look at in August is all.

Bohannan starts, I don't think so. Other than that, could be not that far off. We're going to lose some games we should win and win some games we probably shouldn't, we could do better than 8th. Gotta believe in Fran, but at the same time, some years we are going to struggle.

CW, in my mind, is our most crucial player next year. He's got to step up or step aside. It's guards that run the show in college, and last I looked, he is a guard.

Bohannon's development is almost as crucial. You can't ask CW to play 30 plus minutes, can you? And someone else will have to morph into a hybrid point, a la Bill Jones and Dev.

We can't get started soon enough. Need these guys to get their feet wet NOW!

Although pegging Iowa in the #8 spot seems within reason, the assessment of the Hawks was consistent with someone who has the most superficial information about the team.
Bohannon starting? Ellingson a key reserve?

While illanoy has no doubt underachieved over the past several years, I was a bit surprised as to how little was thought of them.

I think Dailey could be our 3rd PG, and I know there's talk of Jok having the ball in his hands more to create.
I have read website stories with quotes from various players and coaches. These articles mention Williams, Dailey, Moss, Jok, Bohannon all running the PG spot.

Agree about CW. Some things I noticed about him this summer that we're going to depend on: his explosion to the hoop on O, his reach and anticipation on D, rebounding. CW is going to be a different kind of PG, as Fran has noted- a playmaker vs an assist man. However, if he manages to average a 2/1 A/T ratio, I think we're dancing for sure.

Backups will be cobbled together from JB, Daily, Jok. If Jok can be an effective backup, a la RDM, we could be in good shape. JB is going to go through a learning curve dealing with big athletic PGs, as you could see in July. Daily doesn't have CW's strength to operate in the paint. As that comes, he will be one to watch because it will make him more of a threat to effectively drive, freeing up his great shooting and passing.

He definitely should have been mentioned. If not as a starter, then as key reserve... Having JBo starting is interesting. I barely thought about the idea, until last week when I heard Scott Dochterman mention Jordan as the starter... I am still not buying it.

I think the job is William's to lose. And I don't think he'll lose it. He can move with the ball, has decent handles, can drive, has an outside shot and can rebound very well. But importantly he does not seem turnover prone.

However JBo has basketball in the blood. And he is said to be the best of the bunch. If true, then he'll have a chance to start. And we'll have a heck of a ball player.
