One of those MOSS game

And your point is...
That CJ was Moss's competition. Evelyn wasn't even in the picture when Moss made his decision.

Evelyn is a nice find as a bench player but with a different skillset than Moss. He is something Iowa needed - a defender at guard who could also be a primary ball handler. Any scoring from him will be a bonus.

You are making an assumption that is false. Moss knew what his chances were at Iowa with CJ playing and he saw the handwriting on the wall. That is indisputable. I wish him well but he would not have been a starter this year at Iowa with the way CJ has played. No way. And that's not on McC.

And for the record, I am happy in retrospect that he transferred. I think it is better for both him and Iowa.

I'm sorry, but you are simply an idiot if you think this Iowa team is better because Moss isn't on it.

The stat comes from Ken Pomeroy's individual game box score for the game. A 2% possession usage rate is almost unheard of for a player. This season for Iowa, only a few players have been below 10% for a game and none has been below 7% for a game. To have a 2% AND have 36 minutes played is probably unprecedented. He literally had only two jobs yesterday it seems, play defense and drag a defender to the corner.
And I am sure he touched the ball on offense more than once, but that rate is insanely low.

KenPom's stats show he only touched the ball on 2% of the possessions?

I have a feeling "Usage Rate" is a stat you don't understand.

Imagine watching a Kansas game and actively relishing the lack of scoring success of a guy who gave Iowa’s basketball program four years, did and said the right things, and made some big shots in big games for the Hawks... then starting another “bash Moss” thread. And for what reason? To make oneself feel better about losing a player that we definitely could have used this year?

I’ve watched several Kansas games, that I would otherwise have zero interest in watching, just to cheer for Moss. Weird right? And as Legend said, he has, from what I’ve seen, been a highly efficient, good defensive player, as well as a strong senior presence on the court

I am sure he touched the ball more than 2% of the time, but I have never seen a player play those minutes with that usage rate. Ken Pom calls players with a less than 12% usage rate "nearly invisible". To have a 2% rate AND play the third most minutes for your team is just mind blowing to me.

Legend will tell you his eyes tell a different story. Ken Pom determines he was “nearly invisible” and I used “didn’t show up” but I guess he’s sticking with “playing his role perfectly and must look beyond the stats”.

OK, so you think Iowa would not be a better team with Moss. Got it. I believe That is false.

Moss knew what Kansas had for guards. And that is more and better than Iowa. He would have played significant minutes for the Hawks. We could have used him. Oh well...

Common sense should tell anyone that he didn’t touch the ball but just once all game on offense when playing 36 minutes.

Seriously, imagine having such a pathetic life that you actively watch a former Hawk in the hopes that he plays poorly, just so you can run to a website to post about how poorly he played in hopes that everyone agrees with you.

What an incredible sad life.

You think Moss left Iowa for a school that didn't make the NCAA Tourney last year and wasn't forecasted to make it this year so he could win a national title?

lol

I'd obviously forgotten all those great games he played as a Razorback. And aren't teenage girls the only ones still using lol?

I hope he is successful. No need to be spiteful.
I don't. Not because I don't like him, he's seemed like really good person and teammate.
Just not a good look if he were to be "ok" at Iowa and then all the sudden become really good after a year at KU.
Sorry IM, I'm gonna be selfish :)

where did I say how many times he touched the ball? I’ll say this though. When the Dayton game got tight I saw a player who wanted no piece of the action. Maybe that was smart on his part or just “playing his role perfectly”.

Ok, let's turn this around. Would you rather Moss still be at Iowa and cutting into CJ's minutes? Or Weezy's? Or CM or Joe T's?

This debate is interesting, but I think Iowa would be better off today with a starting lineup of Joe T, Moss, Frederick, Weiskamp and Garza. I do not think Fran's love of playing two big men gets his best players on the floor at times and if Iowa had both Moss and Frederick right now, defending the Hawks with 3 players that could shoot 40% from three and a penetrating guard like Joe at the point and Garza at the post would be a very tough. I know Joe would not work against many of the power forwards in the Big Ten, but I think with the teams Iowa is facing this time of year that lineup would be tremendous
I have been critical of Fran but have to give him props for actually going small ball tonight. Too often he has gone too big instead of putting his best players on the floor. Tonight he put his most talented players on the floor and it worked well for him. Props to him for changing it up

So that's your real beef. Got it.

I hadn't commented in this thread at all until that. My real beef is a guard who is getting a lot of minutes who cant put the ball in the hoop.
He does have a lot better ball control this year, so that is nice to see, and he has ran the offense well. However, when you arent a threat to score, it hurts the other 4 on the court with you

Good luck playing Moss at pg. Yes, Moss over CM 100% at SG but CM over Moss at pg. Realize that CM has 140 assists in just over 1 year while Moss only had 150 over his 3 years at Iowa.

if I was Moss and I thought that was going to happen it would be smart to transfer to another school. Oh wait, he did transfer.

It hurts a hell of a lot more if you don't play defense. CMac does that well, and he runs the offense well, too.

Wait, are you arguing with yourself?

The Moss situation is very similar to when Ruddock transferred to Michigan. There are two groups of fans. The ones that want the “traitor” to break his leg and have a miserable season and the group of fans that say “watch this kid really blossom now that he’s playing for a good coach in a good system” I find myself somewhere in the middle. I certainly wish him no ill will but I won’t be rooting for him to “explode” just because I hate hearing the fans who are going to blame Fran for not “developing” or “holding him back”. My cell phone exploded with texts after the Monmouth game from the fans who want Fran gone and I simply replied Moss is going to have those games just like he did at a Iowa but he will still disappear at times. I wish he was still a Hawkeye but I think he probably made a wise move.

CJ is really impressing - he appears to be a difference maker and a kind of a jitterbug. Don’t miss Moss as much as expected.

Either hate or love, huh? I don't think Iowa fans are as polarized as you describe us. Most of us don't care but there are a few buttheads that have to post on the extremes.
