One thing we can all agree on?

People that have no idea about the trucking industry crack me up. Drivers are not going to sit behind a slower moving vehicle when their production is based off of their pay. Pass all you want truckers, we're behind you!
If they start getting tickets they’re f’d. They’ll lose their insurance or their owner-operator deal.

This would last about 3 and a half senconds.
Well, I'm sure they'd cover that lane with cameras, much like an HOV lane. But, it would be nice to start thinking ahead and building the infrastructure for our obvious future of autonomous vehicles. Where one of the biggest advances could be with freight transport.

I've worked in the trucking industry for 30 years. I know what will get truck lines or driver f'd a lot better then anyone else on this board. And passing in the left lane isn't one of them.

In the not so distant future, we aren't going to need over the road truck drivers anymore. They are an inefficiency and variable, that the large companies will eliminate as soon as the technology and infrastructure allow.

This board is still obsessed with Selma Hayek like it's 1998. So I don't really trust any of their takes on attractiveness.
umm.. What!!!! Shut your whore mouth you stupid fool!!

Ok. Multiple traffic infractions have no effect? I’ll take your word for it.

The one that drives me crazy is the guy that decides he has to pass the other slow truck going uphill in the mountains. 50mph is too slow! So I'm going to pass him at 52 mph and back up traffic for six miles behind me!

That may have been true at one time. But in recent years trucking companies have been forced to dig deeper to find drivers. Now a significant percentage of truck drivers have no business being on the road at all, let alone behind the wheel of a 40-ton rig.
Had a family member say he used to be proud of being a truck driver back in the day, now you got drivers in flip flops and open toed shoes driving, lol.

Nailed it. You gotta let that truck regulated to 66 mph break free of that truck regulated to 64 mph.

I have found it is best to assume that truck drivers these days are intoxicated, can't see me in their mirrors, don't give AF, are sleep deprived, are talking to someone on their phone / binging season 2 of Strangers Things while driving, or are increasingly unleashed upon the roads with a silent prayer that they won't wreck by desperate trucking companies.

I've seen a semi driver reading a book while driving once.

Side note, we've been in Oregon for a week, and log truck drivers are a special breed of crazy.

It's the farm equipment I hate. This time of year driving a 2 lane country road at night you never know how much of the road those greedy effers are taking up with their giant equipment. It's just a mass of blinking yellow and blinding white lights that may or may not indicate the extent of their incursion into your lane. Oh yeah, and grain wagons with no light on the back and a quarter inch of dust obscuring the slow moving vehicle sign. You come up on those guys pretty quickly. But they are heroes. Farmer heroes.

I've never been on the autobahn but my understanding is you HAVE to be passing to be in the left lane. I'm OK with that.
Having driven many times in Germany I can confirm this. You better get over to the right when a faster car approaches you from behind…even if you are going faster than the traffic in the right lane. I believe it is illegal to slow the left lane. I popped my cherry on this issue going about 110-120mph in the far left lane when an Audi came flying up behind me flashing it’s brights. I moved over promptly.

It is a joy drive under those conditions.

Side note: Iowans on 80 between QC and IC seem to suck at this. Left lane loungers (trucks and cars) as far as the eye can see until you get to 3 lanes.

It won't be in our life time I can assure you of that.

Depends on the infraction, in California you can't be in the left lane on interstates with 3 lanes. It his minimal to no impact on a drivers CSA score because it's not considered a moving violation. It's the same as getting a warning and no one cares. If you get excessive speeding tickets or seat belt violations, no one is going to hire you.
