Only 57,000 tickets sold to Saturday's game...

Not to me. My recent guess of 59,121 in another thread looks pretty awesome, although even that now appears to be overly optimistic. Thank you. :)

Meanwhile on Saturday in Ames: (yes, more fans in Jack Trice on Saturday than will be in Kinnick Stadium)

Jamie Pollard ‏@IASTATEAD
History will be made on Saturday as we are now officially SOLD-OUT for UNI. 61,500 fans will fill Jack Trice Stadium.

Congrats to the Cyclones on the attendance, but watch out for the final score. It might not be as impressive.

Where is 89and91 to talk stadium smack as he usually does??

My guess is Iowa gets enough walkups that they'll have something in the low 60s

Temps are expected in the 90's on Saturday. Any late walk ups can hopefully cancel out the fans that simply won't use their tickets Saturday because of the expected heat.

Has to be the first time in history that ISU has had more people in Trice for a game than the Hawks have drawn in Kinnick on the same day, right?

Wow.

Even the ticket guy in the register article said that isn't going to happen.

Who the hell is going to buy a ticket between now and Saturday that hasn't already? Like people haven't know for months that there's going to be a football game this weekend?

Some people might have been waiting on the weather, but in case you haven't noticed, that is breaking against Iowa right now.

I will not even be able to watch the game because work does not have the BTN. Will be lucky if we can get the ESPN channel and see a highlight or two.

Thanks for posting that completely irrelevent information in the ticket thread. I know we were all waiting on pins and needles to find out what your plans were for Saturday. Thanks for letting us know.

Yeah Iowa is paying the debt of the last 5 years. The losses to Minnesota, Nebraska and Tennessee rung out whatever enthusiasm was there in the fan base. People will come back, and quickly, if the wins come. But Iowa has given them no reason to do so. Jacking prices up substantially after the 2009 season. Clamping down hard on the tailgating atmosphere in recent years. Being largely tone deaf with the gameday experience in the stadium.

But heaven forbid the Hawks lose to Illinois State and Iowa State to start the season, might be lucky to get 40,000 there for the North Texas game.

Wouldn't be a big surprise to see the more people in Trice than Kinnick on Saturday.
Playing UNI brings a big local fan interest that wouldn't be there otherwise. And being a night game on a hot day makes it a far superior game watching experience.
No way would I even consider broiling in the stands to watch them play an FCS opponent. I expect to see A LOT of empty seats in Kinnick if it's sunny and in the low 90s on Saturday.

uni returned over 600 tickets

Bad situation brewing for ticket sales right now.

Holiday Weekend
Hot ass weather
FCS team
Pissed off fan base
Holiday Weekend in both Iowa City and Ames
Hot ass weather in both Iowa City and Ames
FCS team is the opponent in both Iowa City and Ames
Pissed off fan base in Iowa City and should be in Ames
Looks like a wash. Only thing that might help Ames attract additional fans is seeing the new remodel at the stadium.

To make everybody realize what an apples to oranges comparison is being made, you could buy a ticket through the ISU ticket office to the Iowa, UNI, and Texas games for $11 LESS than you would pay for a pair of tickets to the Iowa v. Ill St. game. No, that is not an exaggeration.

If we are talking about marketing the product to their fanbase, then it is without a doubt a blow out. ISU does a great job with that.

Hey Is It will Pollards mini packs continue to where isu will have more attendance than Iowa at the end of they year or will little bro be looking up at us yet again?

A simple bet really who will have more attendance at the end of the year? Maybe Pollard can discount all the games to $33.00 or less.

As already mentioned, UNI will have more fans than Illinois State. Also a factor is that Iowa State only has a few possible home wins on the schedule, so if you want a chance to see a victory, you'd better show up for one of the early home games.

UNI will bring many more fans that Illinois State will.
This. Many UNI fans will not get their tickets through the UNI ticket office.

And actually more importantly, Iowa State fans are naturally more interested to see an in-state FCS opponent than Iowa fans are in seeing an out-of-state FCS opponent.

What history is being made Jamie? Losing to a FCS team for the third time? Do you already have a press conference lined up to blame the refs for the lose

No matter the circumstances, did you think that ISU would ever outdraw Iowa? This blows my mind. I knew that Iowa fan base wasn't happy, but this is hard to believe....even with the heat and holiday weekend.

If Iowa played UNI in week 2, do you think there would be more than 61K in Kinnick?

Maybe if things get really tough he can offer student tickets to other surrounding schools.

If you want to pay money to watch your Big 12 football team lose to an FCS team for the third time in a row, go right ahead.

Do you ISU fans think that you guys are going to outdraw Iowa for the season?

I agree, but I'm more exhausted by the continued losses when favored by 10 or more points and to programs with far less resources than Iowa (isu for example). I renewed my season tickets this year, a more difficult decision than it should be, and will be there Saturday, but Ferentz needs to stop losing to lesser opponents for my continued support.

Congrats to ISU for outselling Iowa for the first time in 125 years of football.

I've always lived a minimum of 5 hours from Iowa City, and been to Football games, wrestling meets, etc., many, many times over the years. Had a ball win or lose.

But I beleive this will be the 1st time ever that I will be in the vicinity on game day, and won't be bothering to stop and take in the action Live at Kinnick. Sad frickin' day its come to that (apparently still suffering from the Live beatdown I witnessed to the "Mighty Gophers" last year................;)).

But I'll be there in spirit, so go get'em Hawks! :D

UNI will bring many more fans that Illinois State will.

LOL

Resorting to blaming the attendance descrapency on the visiting DII fanbases. That is probably the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. Welcome to the Iowa fanbase, circa 2015. If we only played an FCS team that traveled well, we might be able to get within 10,000 of a sellout. JFC

I guess I'm in the minority opinion here. I saw this coming.
I'm not hating on the clowns. I'm hating on Barta.
We sold 57,600. Do you really think all of them show up on Saturday?

You put a boring product on the field, you play cupcakes and you lose to them at home.
It's time for PJ folks. Enjoy another 7-5 season with the weakest schedule in Power 5 conferences.
Brian Bennett from ESPN has his upset special of ISU beating Iowa.
This is reality. The only message we can send to Barta is not show up!

We will show up when Ferentz and Barta are fired. Hopefully, the new President will be a
Sports fan.
