Only 57,000 tickets sold to Saturday's game...

I'm not going to say this proves that Hawkeye fans are smarter than Clone fans but it certainly shows which fan base has higher expectations. Iowa finishes 7-5 and the ticket sales plummet. ISU follows up a 3 win season with a 2 win season and they sell the place out. Obviously they demand improvement!

I guess I'm in the minority opinion here. I saw this coming.
I'm not hating on the clowns. I'm hating on Barta.
We sold 57,600. Do you really think all of them show up on Saturday?

You put a boring product on the field, you play cupcakes and you lose to them at home.
It's time for PJ folks. Enjoy another 7-5 season with the weakest schedule in Power 5 conferences.
Brian Bennett from ESPN has his upset special of ISU beating Iowa.
This is reality. The only message we can send to Barta is not show up!

We will show up when Ferentz and Barta are fired. Hopefully, the new President will be a
Sports fan.

Agree with everything except for PJ. He's a clown and we can do much better.

Or, they have a tailgating culture like we used to. Win or lose, they still booze. In Iowa City that kind of mentality gets you a PAULA or a DUI.

Will the 61,000 actually show up at ISU on Saturday? Or did most people buy the tickets to see Iowa or Texas? Will it actually be a packed house?

You really think the big drop in ticket sales at Iowa this year is largely about tailgating atmosphere and not dissatisfaction with KF or the product on the field last year? Really?

Are you really dumb enough not to understand the point being made? I have been a part of numerous sellouts or near-sellout crowds watching a hell of a lot worse football in Kinnick than is likely to be played on Saturday. What's the difference?

I live 2 miles from Kinnick and only plan on going to 1 game this year. Not worth my money to watch us struggle against below average teams

Barring a weather disaster, it will actually be a packed house. UNI has brought bigger crowds to ISU than has Iowa, for one thing -- although this year, UNI sent back some of its allocation. But ISU fans (except me) love night games, and there's a lot of excitement about the stadium renovation. Also, Cyclones are undefeated.

Congrats to ISU for outselling Iowa for the first time in 125 years of football.

#SO_PWOUD
Actually, ISU outdrew Iowa occasionally in the late '70s. But it hasn't happened since then and probably didn't happen very often before then.

Seriously it's amazing how many clone fans coming over to brag about freaking game attendance. After how many years of not filling a stadium of 55k and Now after a few good yrs of attendance even though they didn't sell out every game last year some of them acting like they are the most loyal football fan base. Dear lord someone of you need to get off your high horse.

I've always lived a minimum of 5 hours from Iowa City, and been to Football games, wrestling meets, etc., many, many times over the years. Had a ball win or lose.

But I beleive this will be the 1st time ever that I will be in the vicinity on game day, and won't be bothering to stop and take in the action Live at Kinnick. Sad frickin' day its come to that (apparently still suffering from the Live beatdown I witnessed to the "Mighty Gophers" last year................;)).

But I'll be there in spirit, so go get'em Hawks! :D
Buck up and get to the Game! Win or lose let's support the Hawks. I will be there. By the way, it is interesting that the smallest crowd in the last 15 years at Kinnick occurred on opening day in 2003 when we hosted Buffalo. Only 54,000 were there and that was after going 11-2 in 2002. Go Hawks!

Think buffalo was 3rd game. Miami OH with Roethlisberger first game in 03'. But do remember buffalo game being low on attendance. Think Iowa was up 40 something to nothing at half.

I see the weather playing a not insignificant factor.

If you had some excitement and a good opponent, it wouldn't matter if it were 90+ degrees.
But when there's not much positive going on with the program and an FCS team coming in, 90+ degrees sitting on metal bleachers in the heat of the day is completely unappealing.

Yes, the 'clones sucked last year. And might not be much better this season.
But they're playing an in state opponent which generates more interest. And they're kicking off when it's starting to cool down, with most of the game played after sunset. That makes it a hell of a lot more appealing when you think about sitting in a stadium.

You are right, it wasn't opening day, but amazing that we only drew 54,000 after the great season in 2002.

Why can't we all just be excited for ISU and congratulate them on finding a way to get 60k+ fans into a stadium to watch the team? I, for one, am glad that ISU is able to generate a little bit of excitement in their program despite the fact that they are looking at another uphill climb for their season.

I think most (if not all) observers will understand that Iowa will outdraw ISU over the course of the season. There's no chance of that changing any time soon, due to many factors. The only way to fairly "brag" about attendance is if both stadiums have the same capacity. This is not going to happen, so let's just be happy for them that they have some good fans.

Barta is having his minions prepare a press release for Saturday afternoon: "Today's estimated paid attendance was 118,346 - the largest crowd in NCAA history. In spite of the disappointing loss on the field, my concession vouchers were a smashing success"

Hey Is It will Pollards mini packs continue to where isu will have more attendance than Iowa at the end of they year or will little bro be looking up at us yet again?

A simple bet really who will have more attendance at the end of the year? Maybe Pollard can discount all the games to $33.00 or less.

So you're butthurt because ISU was proactive in marketing and found at way to get a sellout? Who cares what kind of ticket prices and promotions were offered....news flash - they WORKED.

Spin it how you want, fact is 5-10 years ago no one ever thought we'd see the day where ISU has higher home attendance than Iowa. And we both know if ISU blamed poor attendance on weather, you guys would be all over it....

Fact is isu won't be higher in attendance than Iowa when the season ends. Why would I be butthurt about that?

Pollard at his finest. Of course Pollard will come out soon and say isu has sold 618,321 season tickets and clone fans will eat it up.

Do you think UNI sent back allotment because of location? UNI fans simply buying better seats?

So it is about money? So what is the line, under which it is "worth it", over it isn't.

Or is it not about money at all?

some of them acting like they are the most loyal football fan base.

Sadly, the Register has been supporting this invented belief, consistently saying that the "loyalty" of the fans is what is impressive about ISU. It is a historical fallacy.

But, kudos for them the last half-dozen years.

Impressive!!!

Why clone fans have yet to admit Pollard says isu is little brother.
Wrong thread. That is the thread where you have been in a pillow fight with Iowa State for nearly 20 pages.

This is the one where you were bragging about being able to sell more tickets than Iowa State in a season.

Reading trips up little red yet again.

We want more. We want more. We want more.

The title to this is "Only 57,000 tickets sold to Daturday's game...". If you can't keep up with the conversation, you best not participate.

I'll try to help you out. You said that Iowa will sell more football tickets this year than ISU. Do you really think Iowa can accomplish that?

Have your Assistant Manager read the thread from the top down and then explain it to you little red.

That and driving drunk and throwing beer bottles at people and fighting and puking In people's yards and generally just being an ass. But it's mostly the mentality

Yes, without a doubt. That 2002 year with a 52 and 54k ticket game still averaged 64,839 over the season...which would beat ISU. If ISU sells out every game it will still be 100k short of Iowa, they only have 6 home games.

Trouble answering the question? If you can pull off beating them in ticket sales, that would be quite impressive!!!

Trouble reading I see. Or maybe little red just has reading comprehension issues that his Assistant Manager can help him with.
