Texas Governor is monitoring because people in his state have concerns. They are doing what they are doing to ease public concern, not because they really think the Fed is going to try and do something.

No, I don't say for sure that they are, but I was reading on it and I don't know what to think. Pretty scary if the governor doesn't know for sure what is happening. I know people spread rumors and whatever and I don't fall for that, but this seems real. I'm still finding out more right now as I read up on it.

Walmart issues statement. This would be funny if it wasn't real.

Wal-Mart issued a statement Monday to TPM dismissing "rumors" that tunnels were being built by the U.S. military beneath closed stores in an attempt to launch a takeover of Texas.

"There’s no truth to the rumors," Wal-Mart spokesperson Lorenzo Lopez told TPM via email.

The tunnels are part of a series of conspiracy theories surrounding "Jade Helm 15," a military training operation set to take place later this year in seven Western states. The conspiracy theorists have said the operation may be part of a covert attempt to takeover Texas and other states.

In response to the theories, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) last week issued an order for the state guard to monitor the U.S. military — a decision he defended on Monday.

Theorists have suggested that five Wal-Mart retail locations were shuttered abruptly because of Jade Helm 15. They have suggested that the closed stores, one of which is located in Texas, will serve as "food distribution centers" and will be used to "house the headquarters of invading troops from China, here to disarm Americans one by one."

Another theory suggested that there was already a system of underground tunnels below the closed Wal-Marts.

what it really is : getting our troops trained to pull guns on USA citizens. they figure Texas and Utah are two great places to train the troops to take down usa citizens who have guns. supposedly they are gonna send them out in the community of Bastrop and get them to survey the people and ask how many guns the folks have and where they hide the bodies on their farm, so on. it's a takeover of texas.

This has never been done before. Military exercise protocol never uses traditional borders nor the real name of states or countries. They are identified as made up countries with fictitious borders.

He said he wrote because the thought that the U.S. military would be a threat to Texas is “embarrassing” and it is important “to rational governance that thinking Republicans call you out on it.”

I do not know and trust me I hope you are right!! I think this goes into the fall so I guess we will know by then. If I was planning anything bad, I would pretend like it is a drill like normal at first but then start after a month or two. I f something WAS going to happen I bet it would be later but that is just my guess. I really hope there is nothing true about this but there are so many people talking about it and seeing odd things.

I heard this story on NPR's Morning Edition today. I laughed out loud, then realized I should be sad at the stupidity of it all. The worst part was the bit about the Texas Ranger who bought into the hype. Be as right wing as you want, but, it's disturbing that someone who probably has a college degree brings views to work that railroad cars filled with shackles are being stockpiled in Texas.
