I don't know what Askren was saying, but if he was saying Kem is hurt the article doesn't refute that, it confirms it.
My respective guesses are:
- No, he won't.
- Yes, he could and will.
I believe he’s referring to the tweet by Chad Leistikow who was reporting per Coach Brands, Kemmerer is scheduled to wrestle at 174 vs Oregon St. I don’t know where he got that info or if it’s accurate, but that’s what WitnessGreatness was referring to.
That still doesn’t explain what “conspiracy” Askren was supposedly touting.

Big Brands fan but this statement makes no sense lol. First “we put our best team out there every time so we can create depth” and “whose to say that wasn’t our best team out there”. The first is just a contradiction and the second is just obvious lol. Well you don’t have two of your top of your top three guys wrestling so that can’t possibly be your best team. Lol
My takeaway was that they are going to go with the best guy available. That means benching a starter because they are seeing the backup as a better option at that time, whether that is due to performance or injury. Getting guys experience on the main stage for either reason is going to help with depth.
As for the other quote, he may have been saying just for that day. Personally, I hope that isn’t the best team that we can put forth at the end of the year.
The theory was that the only reason Nelson would wrestle down at 174 instead of 184 is that Kemerer was dealing with a long-term injury that could cause him to miss the postseason.
I don't see why he would wrestle unattached at Midlands. And yes I believe we see him beforehand, such as at Iowa State and the Rokfin Duals.
Unattached to preserve the opportunity to RS if he just isn’t going to recover fully enough to earn a fourth NC.

As odd as it sounds, he could compete and be eligible for a medical redshirt so there's no need to participate unattached. That said, there hasn't so much been a whisper that he's not going to compete this year so this feels like message board fodder.

I was just asking a question. Missing two home duals your final season seems curious imo. There are only four more. Midlands unattached would give him a chance to test it out, if it doesn’t work opts for surgery, wrestles next year and then gets ready for 2023. Would be great for him to enjoy an injury free/healthy season.
He wrestled intersquad, he's at practice, he said he's healthy just a short time ago - "do I not look healthy to you" to a reporter.

Nelson basically stated in this week's press conference that the coaches want him at 174.

Here is my no insider info opinion on this whole pissing match about why or why not some guys are not going.
125 is nicked up (more than just no ACLs) and will not wrestle in duals unless he is cleared (not worth the risk and yes this could happen between wrestle offs and the first dual). I would be shocked if he redshirted.
133 will be Austin all year if healthy unless he needs a match off (doubtful).
141 Jayden and see 133
149 Max is hurt and Cobe is impressing in the room so he gets the matches until Murin is back.
157 Kaleb is soooo under appreciated by some. Great team guy!
165 Bull is a monster and has a stud to roll with. He will break thru this year.
174 Kem Dawg is dinged up and will go when ready. Brands will be a great fill in throughout the year.
184 Up for grabs, but I think it will be Abe and Wilson is pushing him right now. That is a really good thing imo. Abe seems to need that extra fire right now.

I actually listened to the show yesterday because I had nothing better to do while I was driving. It took til the end of the show to mention Chun being hired and it was only brought up because Tony Rotundo asked about it. The most prominent female coach in the country going to the premier wrestling destination and first major ncaa program and they don’t have anything to say about it? Their anti women agenda has already been exposed but man that’s just bad.
FYI we had a show already after her hire. We started the show with the Chun hire. Not sure why you feel the need to attack but have a Happy Thanksgiving . If Spencer was considering redshirt, Schreiver would be going 125, and he’s not, so SL not redshirting. He didn’t have surgery. There is no more recovery unless he has a new injury. I was disappointed he didn’t wrestle Glory. Glory is no joke. Have to wrestle the best.
Sorry for my confusion. I love the growth of girls/womans wrestling. Hope everyone gets behind it
