OSU player meltdown

Twitter isn't the problem. A player could simply say it the press or to a friend and it will be tweeted by someone else.

It's about teaching these kids discipline

Says last game @ OSU.... next week is on the road.

Yeah, I think people have misinterpreted what he meant -- although he may consider leaving if he's going to be the backup. Still, he said in his very next tweet that "The Buckeyes are not done." I think he was just saying last game at home this year.

Sorry Ezekial, showing mental weakness in college doesn't go over well with NFL teams.
Whatever? he is a top 20 pick...all the knuckle heads in the NFL and you judge him on one bad moment and think the NFL will?.He is gone if he had todays 33 yards and a loss or 200 yds and a win...he was pissed and wanted to vent...should have kept quiet and it was a mistake to vent, but will not cost him.May even show teams that he is a guy who cares and wants to win

Meyer should make Elliot apologize publicly to the team for being a brat. If he refuses, kick him off the team. Meyer needs to get a hold of his team.

Watching the game today brought back memories for me of the game I attended with my Dad (who was a prof at MSU) in 1974, which was another controversial game where MSU beat Woody Hayes' #1 Ohio State team then, and the last play where it was debated even to the point of being decided by the Big Ten Office later whether Archie Griffin actually scored in time or not on the last play of the game or not (which was probably a start down the path of getting video replay that we have today). Woody Hayes was the one that blew up after that game and actually punched a Spartan fan on his way out of the stadium then too. Rumor had it that in the coming years Hayes was so PO'd at MSU then, that he "sic'd" the NCAA on the Spartans so that the Spartans in the coming years would replace their coach Denny Stolz and get put on probation in the years following for recruiting violations that were subsequently found. Ironically the final score of that game (16-13) was a difference of 3 points not much different from this weekend's score.

Still to this day one of the most amazing games I attended in person in my life. Seeing MSU beat Oregon earlier this year in East Lansing also brought memories of that game back then too.

Here's some articles that talk about that win. As the first article notes it was 46 minutes after the game where the outcome was finally announced. I remember a big cheer in the parking lot where we were walking to our cars then that announced the decision over loudspeakers then too.

Buckeyes remembering this game earlier this week ironically in their newspaper...

Spartans remembering it a year ago on the 40 year anniversary of this game.

TV broadcast of the end of the game then.

BTW, Ty Willingham, who retired recently as coach at Stanford, and is now on the College Football Playoff Selection committee was on the Spartan team as the backup to QB Charlie Baggett for the Spartans in that game.

I didn't say he wouldn't get drafted, but he might make some teams second guess him. But whatever. If he wants to act like a whiny bitch then who am I to stop him.

Isnt there an NCAA rule that says if an underclassman says he is going to NFL rather than come back for his senior year then he loses all remaining eligibility? Didn't he just essentially declare himself eligible? Or is there more to it than just saying it after a bad loss and feeling a little butt-hurt with your coach?

He's not used to losing. some people are sore losers.

Agree. However, I also think the post-game attitudes of Jones and Elliott reflect poorly on the coaching staff and program chemistry. I think the coaching staff deserves an assist in this case -- not because of poor play calling, but poor player development (in terms of character building).

Mostly I just want to pour gasoline on the fire. I hope this becomes a new tradition at Ohio State and none of their talent ever learns how to play selflessly for the sake of the team.

I'll add more, too: If I'm a top notch WR recruit, I would NOT look at Ohio State as an option. I keep wondering why they have so much talent at a position they don't use.

Totally irresponsible for a star athlete to act like that. One loss is not the end of the world. I know repeating as national champions was their goal, but publicly criticizing the whole team and coaching staff and putting the loss on everyone else while taking no responsibility himself is as low as you can go. Just because they lost a game that came down to the last play. What a poor-sport loser. To think that they would have won just because he would have played more, and even criticizing MSU for playing a tough game and wanting it more.

No humility whatsoever. No sportsmanship. No longer worthy of being a champion. I wouldn't want him on my team.

(he should have kept his trap shut I agree and benched next week) You have
dog killers...child abusers/guys being sued for multiple kids not paying child support...multiple DUI offenders..substance abusers( 2 high picks) who smoked weed the week of the combine last year....thieves...sex offenders(accused) (Winston) convicted of shoplifting went #1 in the NFL draft/and a guy Clowney known to be lazy(even said by his coach Spurrier) and you are suggesting a team may second guess him over that...that's funny...tune into the NFL...he is a saint if that is his only mistake

Dude, you are getting way too offended by this. All I'm saying is when I see something like this I see someone like Ryan Leaf or any of the other dozens of college players who flame out quickly in the NFL because they don't have the mental toughness to compete.

not offended...agreed with you on points..,you exaggerated the circumstance(teams second guessing him as a pick)...don't reply if you do not like my post

This is disappointing, to be sure. The tOSU locker room won't be a pretty place the rest of this season. Michigan has to be loving it, though. I'll be surprised if they get tOSU's best effort next week, based on how their supposed team leaders have behaved this weekend. I think tOSU drops two in a row and limps to the finish line this season.

How soon before heart/family/personal problems force urban to step down?
I was thinking this almost immediately after the field goal. After Tebow left, Meyer couldn't deal with having to replace his qb. What program has he had to rebuild from the bottom up? Just goes from one powerful school to another. He'll probably resign after this year citing health problems and take the spot at USC. After he loses his best player there, rinse and repeat.
