He has a responsibility because the University accepts Federal money and since they do, they and he are required to report it. Oh and by the way, there is specific language in his contract that also requires it. he signed it, and then knowingly hired a coach with a record of abuse. I don't have an issue with giving someone another chance, but he was fore warned. and he chose to ignore it. Everything else is just spin.

It was reported to the title 9 office from the very beginning.....by the police department.

I'm curious how many of you are aware that Courtney's mother stated that she thinks her daughter made it up. That the police department thought her injuries were a result of Zach defending himself from her attacking him.

The danger of an accusation like this for men is fairly evident. Zero doubt Zach has some serious issues and deserved to be fired. The whole story should include Courtney's abuse, dishonesty, and manipulation.

In real time text messages the mother seemed to believe the abuse. Now she can't recall the messages and her daughter i$ a liar. Intere$ting turn of event$ after thi$ $tarted to turn on o$u. Not sure this is done yet.

That PC was an embarrassment and made it more of a debacle than it already is. From their perspective, they would’ve been better off just releasing a statement. He should’ve been shit canned. The heat’s gonna turn up even more on Meyer and Ohio State now

It should have been addressed in 2009 when he was at Florida. Personally, I think in 2009 Zach Smith should have been suspended with pay with mandatory counseling. In 2009 UM should have demanded that he get help. But, during that suspension, I would then consult with the AD, the University President and everybody else on what to do after that. Did the Title IX office at Florida get notified of the alleged abuse in 2009?

Every damn college coach should know this by now: If in doubt, notify the Title IX office regardless. it is called CYA (cover your arse).

The fact that Gene Smith knew about Zach Smith in 2015 also makes this really bad; the damn AD should know that the Title IX office must be notified. Why the cover up?

And why does the Iowa City press know of any arrest when it happens yet in Columbus if a coach gets arrested they are able to keep it quiet?
