OSU vs ISU

Those are all big names, not sure how qualified they are, but I'd be surprised if the job didn't go to Espo when the time comes.
DT wife has her own business in state college now. Her brother is on psu staff and DT has his training center.

It would take a monumental offer I think to get him away. Possible but not probable

Like the chance to coach Okie State? If they offered he’d be dumb not to take it.

I am not sure he would be dumb. There is a lot of pressure and a lot of hours that go into coaching a successful D1 program. His life may be going in a different direction and that is fine. The coach at Young Guns in PA might agree with that line of reasoning.

I know Okie State is a premier job, but look where it is at. It's not just the HC it's the staff he can bring. That is one the biggest things Sanderson has, is established high end staff + NLWC stable of partners. Factor in the expectations that's a lot to put on someone with no HC experience. DT is fresh off a gold, a decent speaker and personality, I think he can hold off HC a D1 program for a while.

I was wondering the other day after watching the Brands B1G Network doc who would take over the Iowa program? I heard from a guy who is close to the Brands family that he expects Tom to hang it up once he can no longer coach from the mat in practice and once a good name steps forward to keep the Iowa program to its high standards. Tom is in his mid 50's now so makes you wonder how many years he has left where he can coach the way he wants to coach?
The Brands will be 54 in April, John Smith 57 in August. Gable was 49 when he retired from Iowa I believe.

Ryan Morningstar will be 36 in June. Don't know if they'd hand the reins over to Ryan when they're done, but possible I suppose. Of course Spencer Lee with his accomplishments and personality is waiting in the wings, but who knows if he wants to Coach, or how long his international career will last given his injury history, or even if his health is good?

IMO, IF Spencer Lee wants to Coach, you give him the job the first day he says he wants it. Best scenario would probably be the Gable route, Assistant for a couple years and then off we go. You can't let him get away if he wants to Coach College Wrestling. Period.

If he doesn't want to Coach you have plenty of options inside the Program or otherwise. This job has a lot to offer and will when Brands is ready to step down.
