OT: Harbaugh defends Rudock

How long after Rudock leaves Michigan will this board still have threads about him?
Could we have beat Pitt with him as QB? There I said it!! Move on.
Side note Garber I disagree people are still hung on why CJB wasn't out there last year

You've got to hand it to Eddy Haskel Rudock. The coaches are enamored with him and play him over more deserving qbs. I guarantee Jake is the "yes sir, aw shucks" type in front of the coaches, and they eat that stuff with a spoon.

The Title of the thread gives away what the subject is about. Seems pretty easy to avoid if you don't like topics such as this.

Jake is what he is. He is a solid quarterback with an average arm and he will take the low risk throw 9/10 times but he isn't going to wow you very often. He will have a few glimpses where you think he has turned the corner but it just never seems to last.

Harbaugh isn't exactly defending Rudock as having played great, merely that he is clearly Michigan's best QB. The arm chair "put in the backup" thinking of some fans at Michigan fails to realize just how truly terrible the other options are right now. Shane Morris is a junior and the backup with career numbers of 43/87 for 389 yards (well under 5 YPA) with 0 TDs and 5 INTs. Michigan's best options going forward are all either ineligible b/c of transfer rules (O'Korn) or true freshmen (Gentry, Malzone) so it's basically Rudock or not much else this year.

He is what he is. He isn't great, but he's adequate. Michigan might be good enough to win 10 games with him merely being adequate which would be fine and dandy. Harbaugh is great at coaching QBs so long term they will be fine.

Well I'm not letting this go!!!! I LOVE HEARING MY MICHIGAN FRIENDS BITCHING ABOUT WHAT WE HAD TO WATCH FOR 2 YEARS!!!!!!

I LOVE BEATHARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are the facts as of now:

Last season Rudock threw 5 interceptions for the whole year'
at Iowa.

This season Rudock has thrown 5 interceptions in the first 3
games for Michigan.

Michigan is a lesser program than Iowa for the last decade or longer. That's why we have a Beathard and they have a Rudock. He's good enough for a lesser program like Mich but not good enough for a better program like Iowa.

I will admit, it was a long two years.

Cmon - it wasn't that bad. Rudock had a pretty damn good year in 2013 and ended the year very well with that big TD pass against Michigan and a win at Nebraska. In 2014 Iowa did have the 3rd highest scoring year in a 10 year period. But we all saw what CJB did at Pitt especially that 3rd down pass. I was sold on CJB then. What I am trying to say, there is no reason to diss Rudock. He is by all accounts a great kid and represented the university very well the four years he was here.

Just to clarify I was referring to the Michigan press and fan base. I am a Hawkeye fan and alum but I now I live in Michigan. The majority of Michigan fans have unreal expectations. Most of them wanted to bench Tom Brady his senior year in favor of Drew Henson.

Sidenote: I've always been firmly behind the CJB change but I do think many Hawkeye fans still have an interest in how Rudock performs at Michigan. Thus far the results have validated the decision Ferentz made in January.

I personally hope Jake does Ok but I cannot root for his team because i really dislike Michigan.

Some may be interested in this. Michigan press and fan-base have been a bit tough on Jake.

I suspect many of the posters with no interest are those that went out of their way on this board to say how great Rudock was at Iowa or professed their support for KF and starting Rudock over Beathard. Everyone is now saying they were in the Beathard camp, but go back 1 year ago and it was more like 50/50.

Rudock is fine young man, but any criticism he gets by Michigan fans comes with the territory.

Rudock's receivers were to blame on a couple of those. I hope he turns it around and has a good season for Michigan.

Fixed it for you.

I really do not understand the obsession with bashing Rudock. Maybe some people should try to say some thing positive about CJ than constantly trying to say negative things about JR. I wish JR well with Michigan. Internet anonymity makes everybody a tough guy.

I think Jake is a good kid, and I wish him the best. That being said, he has a history of coaching staffs 'defending' him. That is all.

Jake wasn't terrible while here. He certainly wasn't spectacular.
I wasn't bothered at all that he left.
I don't really care how he does personally. But as I'm no fan of meechigan, and definitely no fan of harbaugh, I'd just as soon the wolverines flounder.
