Seeing rumors online that Nebraska has already offered Scott Frost the job behind the scenes and he has until Dec 3rd-ish to accept? If true, whatever I guess. I know their 18-19 schedules are a beast.

He is Florida’s to lose imo. The resources he’d have there along with already having relationships built with the Florida high school coaches make this a no brainer.

I hope Frost takes the Nebraska job. I believe he is going to be a top notch coach and I would rather see him in the B1G than the SEC. The more prestigious the B1G is the more prestige Iowa gets. Osborne was successful at Nebby because he had a pipeline to the west coast. Florida is full of players that are willing to travel north. In addition, Frost has plenty of connections to the west coast from his Oregon days. If Iowa wants to be the best then it has to beat the best.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but former Iowa kicker Trent Mossbrucker is on Frost's staff at UCF.

Osborne was a pioneer in the use of PEDs.

If I am Frost I am taking the Florida job. Even if I fail there the Nebraska job will be available in 3-4 years when the next guy they hire doesn't work out either. I could then slide into another multi-million dollar head coaching gig in Lincoln if it doesn't work out in Florida. It's the smart business decision for him to take Florida and I am sure his agent is advising him the same.

This. If he fails at Nebraska, which is not unlikely, his next stop is FCS or coordinator. He is more likely to succeed at Florida and even if he doesn't, he could get a job like Nebraska in 3 to 4 years.

So if he fails at Florida then he can still land the Nebraska job? I would suggest that if he were to take the Florida job and fail- he would no longer be on Nebraska's radar. I do agree with you assertion that he would probably have to step back to a lower tier program or as an OC.

Is this "urban legend" or do you have concrete proof of your allegations?

It most certainly isn't an Urban Legend. There were several published stories about it. Several players admitted to it. Osbourne stated a few even failed drug tests. Even a strength and conditioning coach from another program admitted to selling steroids to Nebraska players.

Fair enough, I had not heard of this.

Don’t forget the walk-on program and all those criminals for players. He made sure they stayed in school and eligible.

Frost would be a fool to take the job. I honestly think he can be more successful (long-term) at UCF. I don't think any head coach who has pick of the litter (Frost and Campbell) would settle for a job where expectations are as unreasonable as they are Nebraska. I think once the corncobs finally except some reality, their situation will stabilize. But as it stands now, I cannot think of another program in the country that hasn't had any kind of success for as long as they have, yet still maintain the same expectations from over a generation ago. As much as Kirk has frustrated me over the years, one thing we have that will always be an advantage is an IDENTITY. I don't expect us to win national championships nor be in the playoff every single year, because that is NOT reality. But, I do expect us to be competitive every single year and maximize the talent we can get and we do (for the most part). Nebraska is no different, in fact I would argue they have even more disadvantages than we do. Lincoln is an outlier and isolated from fertile recruiting grounds. Nebraska as a state does produce some talent from time to time (as we've experienced), but not enough to populate a roster.

Burn Lincoln stop with the love fest.

Does he have a wife/kids? If so, he'll take Nebraska over Florida. He's from Nebraska. Nebraska is a FAR better place for families. If he's single, then maybe Nebraska should worry. A little.

Married. Literally just had his first child in the last few days. Who knows what he does but Florida is every bit the dumpster fire or more than Nebraska. They just got humiliated by a winless in conference Missouri team. Prior coach took his team to SEC championship game in first 2 years and gets fired games into his 3rd. Every school needs expections but be reasonable in what they are.

He's going to Nebraska. Quality of life for his family, quality of education for his kid and those he's surrounded with will be FAR better there. He'll be set for life no matter what he chooses.

In about a month, ask any of the following gents how that quality of life thing worked out for them:

Frank Solich
Bill Callahan
Bo Pellini
Mike Riley

He has Frank Verducci, Mario Verdusco, Erik Chinander, several connections to the state of Iowa.

If you have the money he has you don't have to worry about the B.S. of Florida. Then it comes down to access to culture and climate and Florida takes both. He has made a big deal about family and being close and knows at Nebraska he would have to recruit on a national scale. (Read:he wouldn't be home) FWIW the Florida coach got fired more for loss of control of the team, 9 felonies, than the win/loss. You tend to lose games with that many guys gone.

You think if he was undefeated he would’ve got fired? Urban Meyer won 2 national titles and led the country in arrests while at Florida. Winning helps turn a blind eye to many things.

Disagree. I would chose Gainesville over Lincoln without much hesitation.
