This.. I really don't understand how us from Iowa can make fun of anyone outside of Papua New Guinea. It's almost as if we have a inferiority complex. Their basketball team has been consistently higher and their football team is probably on par with ours. I've been to West Virginia, probably at least 50 times because I have family there and it's a gorgeous state. The people are self-deprecating as opposed to what Iowans tend to be, they can say all they want about being humble but really they aren't. Iowans in general tend to be that progressive passive aggressive commercial for the most part.
I really don't understand but these aren't people you can reason with or give an opposite view to because they will just try to crush you. Iowans in general don't have the ability to see things from different perspectives. They don't have the ability to see states that are on their level like West Virginia as equal. Otherwise they wouldn't just shit all over them. Probably has to do with the fact that West Virginia votes red, That's fine. I'm neither there or blue. I really don't get the fascination of hating on one of our 50 states for whatever reason. I mean I live in California but I don't hate the state. I hate the politicians who take advantage of every one and a kind heart.

Huge generalization on your part as we all are not the same as you state. Most of the Iowa folks I know are quite accepting so I diagree with your BS generalizations.
I wasn't surprised when McCollum chose Iowa over interest from West Virginia since he's from the state of Iowa and was currently coaching in the state. It seemed like a lot of West Virginia fans were trying to speak into existence what they were worried about - that if they weren't able to get McCollum it didn't bode well for who they might be able to get. They've had some good coaches there, sure, and that's why they've won before; it hasn't been because they have all these intangibles that other states don't have. Again, most things come down to whether your coach can really coach or not.
