We're putting it together again in baseball, but the ceiling in that sport for us is pretty low. We'll likely never compete with SEC, ACC teams again, even if we were a dominant Big XII team back in the 2000s.
We're good at wrestling, but it's a sport that has only 80 universities competing in Division I, so it's not that big of a deal to be in the top 10. We have a good base of fans for that sport, but obviously not as passionate as Iowa's or Penn State's.
Of course volleyball is awesome, and it makes money for UNL, so it's a big deal to us.
Women's hoops is improving and should be a 9-10 type seed in the NCAA tournament. They're starting to get attention because of Fred's destruction of the men's program.
Bowling and rifle are great, but who cares? They're like field hockey at Iowa — a lot of imports in a niche sport making the athletic department look marginally better than it really is.
