Other people's faces tattoo'd on your body.

Is it creepy to have the portrait of a complete stranger tattoo'd permanently on your body?

I seriously considered getting a Seminole head logo on my upper arm one time.

I passed out and didn't feel so strongly about it in the morning.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "stranger".

If you're talking about celebrities, then I figure people get real passionate about that stuff sometimes, so I don't think it's too odd.

If it's a tattoo of the gal who lives down the street from you, who you've never actually met or talked to, then yeah it's a little creepy.

Sports team, fallen family members, things personal to the individual are one thing, but literally a strangers mug plastered on your body. Imagine meeting someone, they roll up their sleeve and BAM! There you are...looking back at yourself. lol

Maybe catergorize stranger then...

Cat A - Celebs (known strangers)

Cat B- Pulling wings off bats crazy - gal down the street.

No.

However, my wife (no pic) did come up with a tattoo idea for me, to add to the 3-4 small hidden ones I have. I'm part of the MacTavish clan, yes an official member. She suggested I get the modern tartan on my shoulder/upper arm, with the Saltire (Scottish flag) ripping through it.

I kind of like the idea. However, no one's face would be included.

I’m always surprised how much variance there is in the artistic abilities of tattoo artists. And why would you get a tattoo w/o seeing what it would look like or how good your artist is?

As someone not familiar with that world...are the good artists much more expensive than the bad ones?

The answer to this is yes. Like anything else, you get what you pay for.

First of all, the average tattoo artist lacks the skill to be able to pull off a true to life representation of a recognizable human face,... Secondly, after twenty years even a good one of these is going to end up looking like Freddy Krueger....

Yeah ... getting a shamrock or a Celtic cross is one thing ... Having an artist do a portrait is completely another. You really have to be confident in the artist and would need to see lots of previous examples before letting them stamp a human face on your body ...
