Semifinals Results

The semifinal round at Midlands lived up to the hype. Wisconsin Whitewater's Jaritt Shinhoster continued his impressive run by stopping madman freshmen Brian Soldano. After upsetting Cohlton Schultz yesterday, Dayton Pitzer continued to electrify with a last second defensive fall while losing to Trent Hillger. Take a look at the entire list of results below.

Wisconsin and Penn are neck and neck in the team race. Wisconsin will have the edge going into the finals with four wrestlers competing to Penn's two. One of Wisconsin's wrestlers, DJ Hamiti, will be in the marquee finals match at 165 lbs against Princeton's Quincy Monday who is competing up at 165 lbs. Northwestern and Pitt are also right there in the hunt with finalists.

Day 1 in Chicago has wrapped up. There's a lot to dissect, but the story from day one has been the freshman. Pitt's heavyweight Dayton Pitzer took out Cohlton Schultz in the biggest upset of the day. Newcomers Ryan Crookham, Brian Soldano, Mac Stout, and Danny Wask also made the semifinals. Actions resumes tomorrow at noon Eastern.

Anyone else thinking that Lucas Davison has become a serious title contender?

Anyone else thinking that Lucas Davison has become a serious title contender?
No. He can’t beat the top 3. Slightly less of a contender, but same category of contender as Desanto as much as it hurts to say. Will give a great match to the top guys, but will come up short.

On another note. Diego Sotelo took 3rd at Midlands. Scrappy guy and has been in our room a few times while he was in high school. His dad posts about once a year on here and I believe grew up a Hawk fan

Davison the only wrestler to score an offensive point against Gable Steveson last year. Took him down at NCAA’s.

I don’t think he’s a title contender, but he’s really good.
