Outside view on MSU this year

MSU is the more successful version of what Iowa wants to be physically. The difference is they always have more playmaking athletes at WR, and they’re usually rolling out a stud at QB. I’ve watched enough cfb since 2007 to just expect MSU to be in the conference title hunt come November.

Am I being a homer thinking MSU can win the B1G this year?
I think MSU will be very tough this fall. Their D-line will be very difficult to run against. They certainly have a pretty good chance to win the east division.

Success will depend on how well they keep "protecting the brand."

That and making sure the players are never alone with the Dean.

Don’t know anything about them, but I hope they go 0-12 (maybe 1-11 with a win over Ohio State). Dantonio is a scumbag.

MSU always reminds me of Iowa ... Two similar coaches ... and styles ... I think for the most part MSU has established itself where any given season it can compete for the Big 10 ...

Maybe in style of how they want the game to be played. One is a classless db scumbag who has allowed too much trash to occur in their program in the name of winning. The other is KF. Would I like Iowa to win more? Sure, but not if it takes someone like Dantonio to make it happen. Please clarify the next time you attempt to put those two in the same category.

I guess gang rape is a team building exercise now? I haven't been one of the Dantonio haters on here, but he covered up sexual assault, so I'm on the bandwagon now. Screw that guy.

How did Dantonio ‘cover up’ sexual assault? He personally intimidated the victims and/or paid off the DAs office? Ya got a link other than vague accusations?

Dantonio just wrote the book on how to handle players getting accused of sexual assault. Immediate suspension and subsequent dismissal of everyone. If that’s ‘covering up’ I’m the queen of France.

Once again, long on vague and ambiguous buzzword phrase accusations but short on fact.

And let’s not act like KF hasn’t had issues with players. He has.

May want to do some homework on this one.

Ah. So no evidence or documentation of wrong doing, just more buzzword, vague phrases. It’s ok, no one I’ve asked to backup what they say can.

You might want to do your homework on that one.

Does this count?

"On the day Michigan State's athletic director stepped down, a year-long Free Press investigation found four cases of sexual assault involving seven MSU football players, casting a dark cloud over one of the school's most high-profile programs and its coach. "

Or does the Detroit Free Press just hate MSU?

There have been 16 football players under D'antonio accused of sexual assault and rape. D'antonio has lied about that number. You know this. The culture at MSU is disgusting. How either Izzo or D'antonio kept their jobs, especially after the monster Nassar was sentenced, is beyond me.

We got a bit off track and I get it MSU has had some issues. If we all agree to talk football I’d like to continue talking here.

FYI my only time I’ve been to Kinnick was the 2010 game..have mercy on me

You cannot separate the crimes and the program. Yea you guys will be a good football team, it's also highly likely your going to face sanctions. You provided a link that's 7 years old. If you dont like what we have to say, you are free to leave.

I cannot separate the gymnastics doctor from the football program?

Wat

If you want to have a serious conversation that's fine but playing dumb is unbecoming. There have been several allegations/cases against the football team.

Like what? Yeah last year there were a few guys who were suspended and dismissed from the team. First time in his 11 season Dantonio has players accused of a sex crime. They were immediately suspended then dismissed.

What else do you want?

Are you sure about that Clark? The Free Press disagrees.

We really are not responsible to educate this guy. There are a ton of allegations of sexual assaults that were swept under the rug there from before last season. If he doesn't know that, it's because he doesn't want to or isn't paying attention. But, we don't need to dig up all the specifics for him (to ignore anyway).

You don't get to throw shade at Iowa and then try to "get things back on track".

Quite frankly I've thought Dantonio was a scumbag since 2010 when he let CL Rucker play against Iowa 2 days after getting released from a 10 day jail sentence.

Check that, I'll go back to 2009 when he was furiously protesting a personal foul call on your DB while Sandeman was laying on the ground unconscious.

MSU’s football program has always struck me as a little shady. Obviously the mid 1990s started that perception, but it’s Dantonio’s sanctimonious moralizing that creeps me out the most. He’s like Mike Pence in that regard —just an unnerving presence. Amazing football coach, no doubt, but even as an MSU grad myself, I could never quite find myself rooting for him or Izzo. As a lifelong Hawk fan who has accepted our mediocrity, though sprinkled in with flirtations of greatness, I’ll always be proud to hitch my wagon to guys like Fry and Ferentz. Incidents like Rather Hall and the current allegations do nothing to inspire affection for my alma mater’s athletics.

So you want to count all the old public intox arrests that were happening at Iowa as being on the same level as the stuff done by Winston, Rucker, Sims, etc?

Also, when some things were done by Iowa plays that were worse ... those guys were booted from the program by Ferentz. In contrast, Dantonio would give his guys a relative slap on the wrist and the guys were still welcome on the program. Winston nearly killed a man ... got locked up for felony assault ... and then still was allowed back on the team after he did his time. Only after he did a few more assaults was Dantonio finally forced to kick him out of the program.

When there was a sexual assault done by Iowa players - the guys were suspended right away and then ultimately kicked off the team. Just 2 years ago the same sort of thing happened at MSU (on a larger scale) ... and guys were still playing after the initial allegations.

Dantonio has played things far to fast and loose at MSU. Maybe he is erring on the side of giving his players a second chance ... but it sets a terrible precedent for the young men of that program to think that such behaviors are, at all, acceptable.
