Rumors swirling on the Twitterverse that he won’t be back at Iowa next year and/or is shutting it down this year.

Also his dad tweeted and deleted something when Owen got benched during the OSU game. I saw it initially but it’s gone now - something along the lines of “wooow”.

Need any more reason for this to be Fran’s last year?

It should be Fran's last year either way, but this should probably make it immediate.

With that said, at this point, I don't really care if one single player stays on this team. We have a soft BB culture and it needs wiped out from top to bottom.

Go get McCollum
Mac does have a better winning percentage as a HC than John Wooden so there’s that.

It’s over.

His performance has been good. But sort of was hoping for larger jump this year.

I would be upset with how the team build came up around him too these last two season if I were him. His body language hasn’t been all that great this season. He probably is tired of lack of fan support and negative spin around team. But it does suck to leave when some decent talent is coming in next year.

Getting Freeman to portal out is part of Fran's plan to tank the season and get his full buyout. Freeman is having a good offensive year, but not doing a lot on rebounding/defense. It didn't make a lot of sense to put Freeman on the bench vs OSU other than the fact you might as well rest him given we were beaten soundly. I'd like to see Freeman and Dix return for next year, but if Fran is back another year, we won't be doing much no matter who stays or leaves.

I heard a few weeks ago that he was heading to Kansas.
I didn't believe it then. Not sure I believe it now. But we need him. He has a good skillset and would be really tough to replace.

Don't forget Ryan Bowen.

I wouldn't mind a McCollum hire but people reach too much thinking that the next coach MUST have Iowa ties.
Some great memories associated with the former players. It's hard to say how well any of them might work as Iowa HC, but Bowen is perhaps the most interesting. Talk about a guy who got the most out of his abilities. It's astonishing how long he played in the NBA and he's had even more years as an NBA assistant coach.

I think Owen is just frustrated he will get over it and come out ready to play against Purdue he has the advantage this year with no 7 4 centers guarding him
