Maybe the lingering effects from playing in the conditions at the Palaestra caused some very tired Hawkeyes. Shooting 4 for 33 is almost impossible, but with tired legs - who knows. And- PSU also lost last nite in Maryland.

Odd, because I always thought Rutgers was in New Jersey.

But other than that, I do believe there could have been some lingering effects on the players.

Sorry, my error. Guess I am geographically challenged about B10 teams on East coast!!!

Fatigue played a major role mentally and physically. No legs and sluggish/no energy from the start. Never got in any flow at all

Other than the geography, the OP is absolutely right. PSU and Iowa battled in a sauna for 40 tense, tough minutes, and both teams paid the price on the road last night. It's a simple as that. A middle school girls team can shoot better than 12% from three. Anybody who thinks last night is the new normal doesn't understand sports in general or college basketball in particular--IMHO.

Team did look worn down at times. At the same time it's no secret without CJ the guards outside of Weiskamp struggle to shoot well. Without the weapons on the outside it allows the opposing D to sink back and work on preventing Garza from taking over games.

I think Nebby uses different balls than Iowa (and probably many others). JoeW mentioned he practiced with that brand on Sunday and it felt a little slippery coming off his fingers. Anyone else hear this?

Not sure about Neb. I know Maryland uses an Under Armour ball which has a totally different feel to it......

Nebraska uses Adidas. I think Northwestern is another Under Armour school.

Using a different ball is crap.. every team in NCAA should be required to use the same type ball. Its a decided advantage to use your own flavor of ball as they very in feel and even a little in weight. The NCAA should have a standard ball like the NBA

It makes so much sense, so obviously will never happen. I’m sure money and sponsorships are to blame.

That combined with our lack of depth was recipe for disaster. I worry we still haven’t had enough recovery time before tonight’s game. Also, did we ever find out of NET rankings considered Palestra a neutral court loss?

I don’t think they looked worn down. I thought they fought hard the whole game. There were several stretches where Nebraska could have put the game away.
