Paolo Ciatto commits to Iowa

People might know his dad as Dr Discipline. He's a chiropractor in NY. He was around Iowa City when AJ was in Iowa City . AJ dated his daughter.

Or how about…

Not every guy who commits to a program is a blue chipper. Anywhere. That includes PSU now and Iowa in the Gable days.

People seem to love showing how ignorant they are.
TnT cannot be stupid. WIth having to cut the roster down to 30 guys, they must see something in this kid to bring him on. I know nothing about the kid, but I have crazy respect for him as a person to be a D1 wrestler. Maybe he doesn't fulfill the dreams of some posters on this board, but he is going to be a wrestler for Iowa and that is pretty impressive.

You’re not going to fill a room with 30 blue chip guys. You need solid practice partners. Chael Sonnen had a different take on iron sharpens ironin practice that he told Bo Basset. It was interesting, need to listen to it. Supports the idea of not always practicing against guys as good as you.

Listen I love TNT and the Hawks. I welcome this kid in and hope he becomes a stud for the Hawks. My only thoughts are that the STANDARDS for Iowa should be on the same standards as PSU because ultimately that's who we are chasing down. I don’t see PSU bringing in "room guys". Their worst recruit this season is Dalton Perry who was a Super 32 runner up and PA State champ. That is scary. I follow high school wrestling hard and pay attention to recruiting. That's why I feel like I can speak on recruiting and potential recruits. With that being said Go Hawks!

Penn st has many "room guys" on the current roster. They've studs obviously. Every D1 team has and needs "room guys"

If you look at the PSU, OSU or Michigan roster, I promise that you'll see the names of a bunch of guys you've never heard of before.

A quick perusal of PSU's roster:

Dawson Bundy
Sam Beckett
Brian Borden
Lucas Cochran
Hayden Cunningham
David Evans
Aurelius Dunbar
Kyison Garcia
Jack Kelly
Timothy Levine
Connor Pierce
Karl Schindledecker
Sean Wang
Ty Watson
Brock Weiss

None of these guys were even close to a blue chip recruit. It takes more than blue chippers to build a good roster. You need good teammates, good people, good academics, and good practice partners to effectively build a good room/culture.

Guys like Paul Glynn are some of the unspoken heroes of programs. A lot of our stud lightweights raved about him as a practice partner and teammate.

Personally, I think this recruiting class determines if Iowa continues to utilize the portal to the max.

With Parco, Buchanan, and Teemer coming off the books, that's a lot of coin available.

Having guys like Kerk, Haines, DT, Ed Ruth, Wright, Nickal, Zane, Nolf, Hall etc. helps too. I really don't know why anyone is surprised that Iowa is still getting their ass kicked in recruiting. Tom has destroyed Iowa. Period.
